(Minghui.org) Mr. Xu Yangang, 37, from Gu'aili Township, Qianguo County, Jilin Province, filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin on September 1, 2015.
Mr. Xu is holding Jiang responsible for the tremendous suffering he inflicted by inititating the persecution of Falun Gong.
Beaten for Speaking Out for Falun Gong
Mr. Xu got on a train for Beijing to speak out for Falun Gong on December 27, 2000. Police arrested him on the train. They took turns slapping his face and kicking him in the chest. He went on a hunger strike while in custody, and was later released.
Tortured During Two Labor Camp Terms
Mr. Xu was arrested again on January 15, 2001 and given one year of forced labor. During his term at the Yinmahe Labor Camp, he went on a hunger strike and was locked up in solitary confinement. The guards cuffed one of his hands to a bed frame and forced him to relieve himself by the bed side without unlocking the handcuff.
As he shouted out “Falun Dafa is good,” the guards tied his arms and legs to the bed frame and left him that way for a month, while beating him whenever they wished. His legs swelled up to grotesque proportions, and the prison doctor warned that he ran the risk of amputation. Although the swelling subsided eventually, he could not bend his legs properly.
The guards punched him in the face, causing his nose to bleed profusely. They used wooden planks to strike his soles until the planks broke. They also shocked him with electric batons after wrapping a rope across his mouth.
On freezing winter days, the guards would keep the windows open to make him suffer. As he refused to do the hard labor, the guards beat him savagely and forbade others to talk to him. Those who disobeyed were whipped with a leather belt.
Mr. Xu was arrested again on June 6, 2002 and given another hard labor term of two years. He went on a hunger strike to protest being forced to watch videos slandering Falun Gong. The guards led by the prison hospital director pried his clenched teeth open with steel pliers to carry out punitive force-feeding. His cell was damp and plagued with mold, which caused his skin to be covered with scabies.
During his second term of hard labor, he learned that his mother, also a practitioner, had been sentenced to forced labor at Changchun Women's Labor Camp.
The prolonged, brutal torture took him to the verge of death, and he had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. To this day, his nose is still slightly skewed to one side as a result of the beatings.
Family Torn Apart During Prison Term
The county police broke into Mr. Xu's home on October 17, 2007 and confiscated his television set, DVD player, motorcycle, and several woks. The police beat him to the floor, stripped him, tied him up, and whipped his head with a belt. He was arrested and taken to Qianguo County Police Station.
Later he was sentenced to nine years in prison on October 22, 2008 and detained at Shiling Prison. After years of ill treatment, he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. In spite of that, the guards beat him with rubber tubes while pouring freezing cold water over his body. He still bears the scars on his back from the beatings. Another practitioner Mr. Dong Fengshan, who was sentenced along with Mr. Xu, was beaten to death a few days later in the same prison.
Mr. Xu was released before his prison term expired. He returned home, only to learn that his mother had died as a result of the persecution, and that she had called out for him at the last moment of her life. His wife was forced to leave home to avoid persecution, leaving their child in the care of their relatives.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
