(Minghui.org) While I talk to people about the persecution of Falun Gong and encourage them to quit the Party and its affiliates, they sometimes ask me, “You cultivate to become a divine being and you can help people quit the Party so that Buddhas and gods will protect them. Why are practitioners being arrested, jailed, and even killed? Where are the Buddhas and gods to protect you? Isn't your teacher supposed to protect you?”
I didn't know how to answer them at first. They were people who knew little about cultivation practice. If I talked at a level too high, I was afraid I would frighten them.
I read sharing stories on Minghui and saw many practitioners mention “Journey to the West.” The book is about Sun Wukong (Monkey King), Sha Wunen (Pigsy) and Sha Wujing (Monk Sha), who protected Monk Xuan Zang on a journey west to obtain Buddhist scriptures.
The Monkey King is a very famous character with mighty power who could easily have carried Monk Xuan Zang on his back and fly to the Western Kingdom. If the Monkey King had done that, they certainly wouldn't have run into devils and monsters and their journey would have been easy and peaceful.
Why did they have to experience 80 tests on the way and then had to pass a final test as they made their return? I began to ask this question to people who asked me why Buddhas didn't protect practitioners.
They usually understand the concept easily and reply that the tests were arranged by the Buddha to see if Xuan Zang was worthy of being given the scriptures.
I then tell them that Falun Gong practitioners are also required to pass tests. The analogy has been very effective.
