(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Yanfang, a practitioner from Jinzhouxin District of Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was arrested at home by local police officers on March 9, 2016. The police did not present an arrest or search and seizure warrant when they ransacked her home. It is not known if anything was confiscated.
She was taken to the Xiangying Police Station, where several male police officers interrogated her. They forced her to fingerprint forged documents and beat her when she did not cooperate.
She fainted because of the violent beating and was taken to a hospital. Although the medical exam showed an irregular heartbeat and a high systolic pressure, the police refused to give her proper medical treatment. Instead, they took her to the Dalian City Detention Center.
The authorities did not notify her family of her detention until the next morning.
The lawyer hired by Ms. Zhang's family went to the police department on March 14 and asked to meet with the person in charge of her case. He was not allowed inside the police department, and the officer on duty refused to give the name of the person in charge.
The police complied two days later, but only because the lawyer filed legal papers appealing the detention.
