(Minghui.org) A couple from Zibo City, Shandong Province was recently arrested for their belief in Falun Gong, the spiritual discipline that has been persecuted in China since 1999.
Ms. Wang Lihong was arrested at home on the morning of March 22, 2016. Gongyuan chief deputy Zou Fanghou led the arrest, which included other officers. The officers confiscated Ms.Wang’s cell phone, a tablet, bank card, and cash.
Ms. Wang ’s husband Mr. Fang Kuanfeng was also arrested, but at a different location. Later, when Ms. Wang saw her husband at the police station, she noticed he needed to use the wall to keep his balance, otherwise he would fall.
The couple’s child, who is in second grade, was left home alone.
Ms. Wang suffers from anemia and an ovarian cyst. Because of the physical issues, the detention center hesitated to take her. After much negotiation, the police managed to send her to a detention center for eight days.
Even though they confiscated 3,500 yuan in cash, the police only returned 1,200 yuan to Ms. Wang when she was released on bail. The police also refused to return the couple's other items they had confiscated.
She returned to the police station several times since her release, asking them to return her property, but the police have refused.
This was not the first time Mr. Fang Kuanfeng has been illegally arrested. Years ago, he was sent to a forced labor camp for three years for his belief in Falun Gong.
