(Minghui.org) The 11th annual Hawaii Book and Music Festival was held on the Civic Grounds by Honolulu Hale (City Hall), in Historic Downtown Honolulu on April 30 and May 1, 2016. Falun Gong practitioners participated in the event and their posters and exercise demonstration drew attention of the event goers.
The festival is a unique event in Hawaii to celebrate and honor books and music in a way that is fun, and accessible for people of all ages, backgrounds and tastes. Various events were held in the two days from 10 am to 5 pm.
Falun Gong practitioners set up a booth and placed information materials on table. They also set up poster boards with Falun Gong information on lawn in order. Some practitioners demonstrated the exercises beside the posters. Their activities drew attention of many visitors, who paused to watch and inquire more information.
Visitors watch practitioners demonstrating the exercises and read posters with Falun Gong information.
One man passed by and said he felt special energy. He paused and asked what Falun Gong is and where the nearest practice site is. He wished to learn the practice.
Another visitor and his 7-8 year-old daughter read the posters. The daughter was shocked at the news that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) conducts live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. Her father explained to her that it was because of communism. His mother in Poland was not allowed to go to church when it was under the communist control.
A host of a local radio broadcasting station planned to interview Falun Gong practitioners. A lady saw Falun Gong practitioners in Waikiki scenery site before. She talked with a practitioner in the festival and learned more about Falun Gong.
The practitioners also met with over a dozen Chinese people in the festival. They raised awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong to the Chinese visitors. Fourteen of the visitors renounced the Communist Youth League and Young Pioneers on the spot.
