(Minghui.org) The Yantai police closed in on four locals as they were distributing literature with information about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted in China. One escaped, but the other three were taken into custody. Six days later, the police arrested another practitioner for putting up a Falun Gong banner.
Ms. Wang Shuzhen, 57, was arrested with Ms. Qu Yanyi and Ms. Cao Shuxiang on May 5. When she refused to disclose her name or be fingerprinted or photographed, the police beat her, pulled her hair, and shocked her with electric batons. She was covered in wounds and bruises.
The police then took her for a physical, which is required for further detention. Her blood pressure was abnormally high, but the officers misrepresented her blood pressure readings and got her admitted to the local detention center.
Ms. Wang experienced dizziness, and the guards discovered her unusually blood pressure. They released her two days later.
Ms. Qu, 73, also refused to name or give any information about the practitioner who escaped. The police beat her and yanked out a bunch of her hair. She was released that night.
Ms. Cao, 75, was released the same night the police found her seniors’ ID and learned her age.
The police arrested 63-year-old Ms. Cao Yanchun on May 11 as she was putting up a Falun Gong banner. They beat her after she refused to be fingerprinted and photographed. She wasn’t released until 15 days later.
