(Minghui.org) A Shandong man was arrested just one hour before his wife’s scheduled release from Shandong Women’s Prison on June 14.
Ms. Wang Haohong was sentenced to 7 years in 2009 for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Her husband, Mr. Wang Zhongxian, also practices Falun Gong. Unknown to him, the arresting officers travelled 220 miles from the couple’s hometown of Zhaoyuan City to Jinan City the day before he arrived there to pick up his wife.
The Zhaoyuan police had been monitoring the couple ever since the persecution of Falun Gong began. They attempted to catch Mr. Wang even before his wife’s 2009 arrest. He managed to escape, only to be ambushed by police years later, just before he was to reunite with his wife after 7 long years.
Instead of celebrating her newly gained freedom, Ms. Wang is now working to seek her husband’s release.
