(Minghui.org)Many police officers have good intentions and a strong sense of justice. However, some have been deceived by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) into persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Once they understand the facts of the persecution, many of them change their attitude and actually help the practitioners.
The following story is about a police officer for our area, who had harassed practitioners before the 2008 Beijing Olympics. His attitude changed after talking to practitioners.
Becoming a Good Person
One night right before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, a young policeman knocked at my door after 9 P.M.
He sat on the sofa and said to me, “I am the police officer assigned to your area. As the Olympics draw near, we were told to do 'house visits' and take notes. Our superior wants to know if you are still practicing Falun Gong and how you feel about the Olympics.”
I replied, “Falun Gong practitioners are good people. It will not be good for you to report them.”
“This is a decision made by our police station. We have to visit all of the practitioners in our region. If you refuse to answer questions here, you have to go to the police station with me. If I do not do it today, someone else will,” he said, in a threatening tone.
I kindly suggested that he may face negative consequences in the future if he reported practitioners. At the same time, my wife was sending forth righteous thoughts to clean up the evil forces in the area.
Feeling my sincerity, the young officer became friendlier. As the tension eased, I told him about the healing power of Falun Gong and how it helped my family get along better with each other.
We chatted for about an hour.
When he left, he said to me warmly, “My friend! Don't worry. There will be no report. I will take care of it for you.”
I was very happy that he understood the facts and awakened from the lies. Another sentient being was saved!
Sending Me Warning Messages
This young officer did not come to our house for a long period of time after that. But he sometimes called me around sensitive dates on the CCP's calendar and politely reminded us to be careful.
I was not aware that his branch office of the police department had planned to arrest me in early 2010. He called me beforehand, saying that he would invite me for dinner in a few days. I felt that there was something off about his tone, but I did not pay too much attention to it, as the new year was approaching.
A few days later, he again called me and said that he was coming to my house. He was already near my home as I put down the phone. Accompanying him were one plainclothes and two uniformed officers from the police department.
I did not blame him because I knew that his rank was too low to stop them. I later learned that his call was to warn me of the arrest so that I could get away.
Doing Good Deeds For Dafa
This young officer sat helplessly in a chair while the three policemen he came with ransacked my home. The policemen moved all the Dafa books and put them on top of a dresser.
When those policemen were not around, I asked him to hide two copies of Zhuan Falun back in an inner room. Those two books were saved because of his good deed.
My wife and I were arrested and taken to the police station. I seized an opportunity and helped the young officer quit the CCP. He later posted his withdrawal announcement online.
My wife was released the same night of the arrest. This young officer called her two days after I was detained. He told her to prepare some clothes and that he would drive her to visit me the following day.
When I was taken out from the detention center for a pre-trial, this young officer went to the site. He gave me two bottles of soft drinks in front of the pre-trial officers and reminded me to watch out for myself.
He also provided moral support for my family. During the 2010 Chinese New Year, he came to my home and gave my wife two supermarket gift cards and a jar of cooking oil.
With his help, all the items that the policemen confiscated during the home ransacking were returned. Later, when I had a problem in registering my residence and asked him for help, he promised to resolve the issue for me as quickly as he could.
Epilogue
This young officer has borne tremendous pressure for helping me – and I don't even think I know all of the good he's done. But heaven knows what he did. A good person is rewarded. He was promoted to the post of deputy police chief not long after this entire ordeal.
