(Minghui.org) Two Falun Gong practitioners in Shandong Province were illegally arrested for disseminating information about Falun Gong and the persecution and were taken to the Shandong Province Women's Prison in Jinan City.
The practitioners told of the inhuman treatment they experienced while incarcerated, especially solitary confinement.
The guards placed practitioners in a solitary confinement cell if they refused to give up Falun Gong. The cells are small and dark, with a cold cement floor. There is only a small stool in the cell.
Practitioners ate, slept, and relieved themselves in the small cell. They were locked in the room for a long time, without sunlight or fresh air. Additionally, they were not allowed to have contact with their families or anyone else.
The winter in Jinan City is cold and harsh. Practitioners in solitary were not provided a winter jacket, but only long underwear. They were given just a thin blanket which did not keep them warm.
It was impossible to get any sleep on the cold floor because of the freezing temperature. Practitioners had to walk around to try to get warm.
Lack of sleep gave them headaches. Without any furnishing and given the severe cold, their bones ached, and their muscles cramped. Many practitioners became ill and developed a high fever.
Jinan City is like a furnace in the summer. The small isolation cells can reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit and the ventilation is poor. Practitioners who weren't well to begin with often fainted after being in the small cell for a short period of time.
The female guards would not provide toilet paper or feminine hygiene products to practitioners in the small cell.
When asked why they were so inhuman toward practitioners, the guards responded, “We simply don't treat Falun Gong people as humans.”
