(Minghui.org) A married couple from Suzhou City is scheduled to face trial on July 7, 2016, for refusing to renounce Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline being persecuted by the Chinese communist regime.
Mr. Yang Hunan, an executive at the Gelin Precision Element Company, and his wife Ms. Cui Juan, a Korean language tour guide, were arrested on March 13, 2016. They remain captive at the Huangli Detention Center and the Suzhou No. 4 Detention Center, respectively.
Ms. Cui’s mother just had foot surgery and was still wheelchair bound when the arrest happened. She requested the unconditional release of her daughter and son-in-law, but the police threatened to send her to a nursing home against her will.
As Mr. Yang and Ms. Cui refused to give up their Falun Gong practice, the police changed tactics to focus on their 18-year-old son. The teenager was tricked into going to the police station, where he was interrogated and intimidated. The police managed to get him sign their prepared interrogation record.
Upon his release, the boy told his family, “I’ve never experienced anything like that before. I can’t believe how despicable those officers were. They deceived me into becoming an unwilling witness against my own parents!”
Mr. Yang’s and Ms. Cui’s relatives launched a signature drive, and to date a total of 266 coworkers have signed the petition calling for Mr. Yang’s release.
