(Minghui.org) Three Falun Gong practitioners from Xingning City, Guangdong Province, were arrested on the same day for suing former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin. They are Mr. Huang Zongpeng from Heshui Town, Ms. Liao Juanna from Longtian Town, and Ms. Liao Lixin from Yetang Town.

The three practitioners were arrested the morning of December 10, 2015. More than 10 police entered each practitioner's home, many of whom were from the local police station and others from the Xingning City Police Department.

Mr. Huang's family hired a lawyer, who went to the court on May 30 to ask about the case, but was not allowed to review the case documents. Court staff told the lawyer that Mr. Huang had been tried several days earlier.

Mr. Huang's family pointed out that Mr. Huang's wife had called the court many times and the court did not inform the family of a trial date. Court staff said his trial was announced publicly, and thus the court was not required to notify the family. The staff member was unable to provide any documents regarding a public announcement.

The families learned that the three Falun Gong practitioners were all tried in mid-May without any of the family members being notified. By July 13, the court still had not notified the families.

Years of Persecution: Mr. Huang Zongpeng

Mr. Huang was first arrested on December 12, 2005, by police from Xingning City after people in a photo studio reported that he was trying to talk to people about Falun Gong. Mr. Huang was carrying some DVDs that exposed the persecution.

He was sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp, and transferred to Sanshui Forced Labor Camp, Guangdong Province, on January 20, 2006.

Mr. Huang was arrested a second time for distributing DVDs in Xingning City in 2010. Police ransacked his home at around 9 p.m., and confiscated DVDs, Falun Gong books and weekly magazines. They even searched Mr. Huang's neighbors' homes.

The court sentenced him to two-and-a-half years of forced labor, and he was taken to the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp in mid-October. He was released on January 6, 2013.

Ms. Liao Juanna and Other Practitioners Arrested and Detained Several Times

Ms. Liao Juanna was arrested on February 21, 2007, for putting up posters about Falun Gong in Longtian Town. She was taken to the Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp on April 16 and released in late 2007.

Ms. Liao was also arrested on October 27, 2009, for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Wuhua County, along with other practitioners, including Xie Yujun, Wen Chunru, and Chen Shenghui. Their two motorcycles were confiscated.

The four practitioners were tried by the Wuhua County Court on February 2, 2010, and sentenced on March 16, 2010.

Ms. Liao was sentenced to four years in prison and taken to the Baiyun District Women's Prison (also known as Taihe Prison), Guangdong Province. She was released on June 28, 2013.

Background

In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.

The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners during the past 17 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.

Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.

Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
