(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Fenghou is the wife of Mr. Zhao Chuanwen, a practitioner who is scheduled to be illegally tried for the second time. Ms. Liu went to the police station recently to inquire about her husband and has not been seen since.
Her parents, who are in their 80s, have gone to the police station many times and demanded she be released, but they haven't been able to see her or determine her whereabouts.
Ms Liu's husband, Mr. Zhao Chuanwen, and another practitioner, Mr. Zhou Guangming, shared information about Falun Gong and the persecution with residents in the Lanshan District of Linyi City, Shandong Province, last Christmas eve. Xinqiao Police Station officers arrested them and detained them in the Linyi Domestic Security Division.
The Domestic Security Division police searched them and found “evidence.” Both men were injured by the Lanshan District Procuratorate staff. Their families were notified that they would be brought to trial.
The two practitioners are being held in the Hedong Detention Center in Duozhuang Town. They’ve been told to prepare to be tried.
Families Threatened after Hiring Lawyers
Mr. Zhao's wife (Ms. Liu) and Mr. Zhou's daughter hired lawyers to defend them. The Domestic Security Division first informed the lawyers that the court date would be July 14. The date was changed to July 15 and then cancelled.
In the meantime, the two women received threatening phone calls.
Residents Intimidated after Signing Petition
Residents, relatives, and friends of Mr. Zhao and Mr. Zhou signed a petition and gave their thumbprints, demanding the release of the two men. Wang Qisheng, the Chinese Communist Party Village Secretary, and officers from Duozhuang Police Station were furious when they saw it published online. They threatened, intimidated, and illegally searched those who signed the petition.
Mr. Zhao's wife, sister-in-law, and Mr. Zhou's daughter were repeatedly searched by the police, and Mr. Zhao's sister-in-law was taken to the police station.
Despite such intense pressure, Mr. Zhao's wife and sister-in-law went to the police station to share their knowledge about Falun Gong and the persecution with the police to clarify any misunderstanding. The officers that they spoke to were courteous, but made a record of their visit.
The police searched the homes of Mr. Zhao's wife and sister-in-law on July 31 and August 1, but didn't seem to find what they were looking for. Afterwards, they asked his wife to come to the police station. She has yet to return.
Ms. Liu's elderly parents have demanded her release many times. The police have said she is in Mengyin. It is otherwise said that she has been taken to somewhere in Linyi, but the address is unknown. It is suspected that she may be in the Lanshan District Police Department in Linyi.
