(Minghui.org) Ms. Jiang Xinying, a Falun Gong practitioner from Jinan City, was arrested a month ago for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in a park. She has been detained at the local detention center since. Her family is very concerned about her health because she suffered from spinal tuberculosis (Potts disease) developed from ill treatment at a forced labor camp in 2009. Doctors installed two plates in her back to help support her body.
According to her lawyer, Ms. Jiang's health has deteriorated at the detention center. “She has to get up frequently and walk around at night to relieve her back pain,” said her lawyer.
Ms. Jiang's family has requested medical parole, but the police have been stalling in providing a response.
Tortured at Forced Labor Camps
In December 2004, Ms. Jiang was arrested at a fellow Falun Gong practitioner's home. She was sent to Shandong Women's Forced Labor Camp, where she was forced to stand for long periods of time, deprived of sleep and do forced labor.
Three years later, Ms. Jiang was arrested for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong and was sent to Shandong Women's Forced Labor Camp again.
Because she refused to denounce Falun Gong, she was put in solitary confinement, where she was forced to sit still on a small stool day after day. The long-term pressure caused hip muscles to fester. In addition, she was not given enough water and food. As a result, her throat and gums became inflamed, and she had severe constipation.
When Ms. Jiang refused to do forced labor, she was made to stand for long periods of time. The guards stuffed dirty cloth in her mouth and scalded her with boiling water. After standing for 15 days, her legs turned purple and became numb. Her weight dropped from 137 lbs to less than 80 lbs. She could no longer stand with her back straight.
When Ms. Jiang's family brought her home for medical treatment in May 2009, she had a big bump on her neck and she could hardly walk. Her gums were swollen and her mouth was full of ulcers. The skin on her back was black, and there were lumps as large as 10 cm in diameter on her back. Ms. Jiang was diagnosed with tuberculosis in her lungs, lymphatic system, thoracic and spine. Both her third and fourth lumbar vertebrae showed signs of necrosis.
After extended hospitalization and 9 hours of surgery, doctors installed two plates in her lower back to help support her body. Even now, Ms. Jiang cannot keep her back straight, which causes her to lean forward.
In June 2015, Ms. Jiang filed a criminal complaint against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the brutal persecution of Falun Gong. She mailed her lawsuit to the Supreme People's Court and Supreme People's Procuratorate. Because of that, the local police arrested her and sent her to a brainwashing center for a week.
Background
In 1999, Jiang Zemin, as head of the Chinese Communist Party, overrode other Politburo standing committee members and launched the violent suppression of Falun Gong.
The persecution has led to the deaths of many Falun Gong practitioners in the past 16 years. More have been tortured for their belief and even killed for their organs. Jiang Zemin is directly responsible for the inception and continuation of the brutal persecution.
Under his personal direction, the Chinese Communist Party established an extralegal security organ, the “610 Office,” on June 10, 1999. The organization overrides police forces and the judicial system in carrying out Jiang's directive regarding Falun Gong: to ruin their reputations, cut off their financial resources, and destroy them physically.
Chinese law allows for citizens to be plaintiffs in criminal cases, and many practitioners are now exercising that right to file criminal complaints against the former dictator.
