(Minghui.org) A practitioner in our area was arrested not long ago. For many years, she had played an important role in all of our projects. She purchased printing supplies, provided information technology (IT) services and delivered Falun Gong materials to different places. She was responsible, trustworthy and kept a low profile.
With a monthly budget of up to 3,000 yuan, she used only 10 percent of the funds on herself and the remainder on making Falun Gong truth clarification materials. She revealed this information to me only after I had asked her.
Refusal to Address Jealousy
Before she was arrested, however, we had shared experiences several times, which showed me that she had developed some serious problems in cultivation.
The first sharing between us, which lasted for five hours, took place at the end of May. During that discussion, I noticed that she had a lot of jealousy. And she believed that ignoring others' feelings was in line with the Fa, and others’ feelings did not matter.
I was astonished that such a competent woman could be so muddle-headed. I addressed her jealousy with her, but she just ignored the issue.
“Are you still cultivating,” I asked. “Are you still aware of what you are supposed to cultivate?”
A month before her being arrested, I found that she rarely offered IT training to others, even in basic skills. She even used a scolding tone when teaching others technical knowledge and had become mean.
Jealousy So Severe That She Held the Group Back
I used to tell her that I wished to learn IT skills so I could share some of her heavy workload. But she always found an excuse to refuse me, which I realize now was based on jealousy.
I thought that I had a problem. Then, one day when I was learning IT skills from other practitioners, she asked me why I was doing so. She was obviously jealous, and spoke with an authoritative tone. Her jealousy was so deeply rooted that her original character had been covered up.
She insisted that there was enough IT support for practitioners in our area. In reality, there were not enough practitioners with the needed skills. It takes a long time to get IT support, be it for a small or large problem. She had designated herself in charge of technical support and feared losing attention and prestige.
Master said:
“A wicked person is born of jealousy.Out of selfishness and anger he complains about unfairness towards himself.” (“Realm” from Essential for Further Advancement)
Deviation Brings Interference
After the first long sharing, we sent forth righteous thoughts together, and I saw a scene. One was a very large crocodile crawling onto the shore with a bleeding wound. Later, I told her about the vision and my understanding, “You have deviated from the Fa in certain aspects.”
But why was there a bleeding wound? Now I understand. The wound represented her imminent arrest. When practitioners deviate from the Fa, the old forces will interfere.
Before her arrest, we had another long talk, during which I blurted out, “You will get in trouble if you continue to behave like this.” I was astonished at my own words, but neither of us thought the consequences of her attachments would be so severe.
After that, we shared twice more. During the next session, she appeared to understand the seriousness of her problem. She listened to my words carefully. However, her deeply rooted notions interfered, and she gave some superficial causes for her problems.
There was one more sharing. When she was ready to leave, I looked at her face and gasped in shock. I asked her not to leave and told her that her face looked terrible and distorted. Then, I shared my thoughts with her. She said that if I had not pointed out her problems, she would not have given them a thought. Unfortunately, she was arrested before she was able to enlighten deeply.
Manifestation of True Nature
After her arrest, she passed some messages to us through various channels that some practitioners’ profiles had been obtained by the police. She hoped that her messages could prevent other practitioners from being persecuted.
I was aware of the risk she had taken in that dangerous environment by passing messages out, which was truly touching. Amid such danger, her true nature as a Dafa practitioner had reemerged. Facing life and death decisions, her first thought was for others’ safety.
Problems Seen, But Unspoken
Master said,
“If jealousy isn’t eliminated, all the thoughts you’ve cultivated become fragile.” (Zhuan Falun)
“Jealousy also harms fellow cultivators...” (Falun Gong)
Isn’t jealousy very serious? Yes, it is very serious. I worry about fellow practitioners who are prone to jealousy. The old forces can easily lead them into danger and persecute them.
The practitioner mentioned above once said to me with a smile, “Only you dare to tell me off,” which means other practitioners rarely pointed out her problems. She also rarely pointed out others' problems in person and told me that she was afraid of offending others.
Each time when practitioners were arrested, other practitioners ran around to find lawyers. That is a good way to help. However, why not rescue them before they are arrested? Why not point out their problems early on to prevent our practitioners from being persecuted?
Not listening to other practitioners’ reminders is a serious shortcoming, but not reminding others of their problems is just as bad. The practitioner who was arrested had told me that no other practitioner had pointed out her problems. Her problems were seen, but left unspoken.
“As long as you study the Fa, any problem can be recognized” is a saying among practitioners. Some interpret this to mean that it is not necessary to remind others of their shortcomings. Such an irresponsible attitude is not compassionate.
In reality, if you point out a practitioner’s problems with compassion, the practitioner will reflect upon it. Even if he or she does not enlighten at that moment, the Fa will point to the problem.
Words Must Be of the Highest Purity
It is really crucial to point out fellow practitioners’ attachments. However, the majority of our practitioners refuse to do so. Some of them are afraid of offending others. Some want to be known as nice people and do not want to point out others' weaknesses. It seems that they are very mild and kind, but in reality, they just make themselves look nice; they are not truly nice people. They did not think of others, and in this aspect, they are selfish.
One who really thinks on behalf of others is not afraid of being called a bad person and dares to talk about problems once noticed. However, we need to choose our words and have them be of the highest purity. If our words are filled with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, they will likely penetrate the listener’s heart.
