(Minghui.org) A graphic designer in Guangzhou City has remained in custody for more than eight months for “undermining law enforcement,” a standard pretext used by the Chinese communist regime in its attempt to frame and imprison Falun Gong practitioners.
Mr. Niu Ben, 34, credited Falun Gong – a mind and body practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance – for relieving him of muscle pain and curing his slipped disc. As with many modern day office workers, he had to sit in front of computers for long stretches of time, which resulted in a host of health problems, including irritated eyes and stiff muscles.
Mr. Niu was amazed when his pain and fatigue disappeared not long after he began practicing Falun Gong. He felt compelled to tell people Falun Gong is nothing like what’s depicted by the government’s propaganda.
His efforts to raise awareness of Falun Gong drew attention from the police, who began to tap his phone, monitor his social media posts, and track his whereabouts.
He was home on July 23, 2016 when a group of officers broke in and arrested him. They also confiscated his passport, cell phone, laptop and other personal belongings.
He remains at Haizhu District Detention Center.
