(Minghui.org) A Qingcheng County resident was sentenced to three years in prison for suing former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin, who ordered the persecution of Falun Gong.
Ms. Wei Xueling was arrested in July 2016 after the local police discovered that she had filed a criminal complaint against Jiang. She was later released on bail due to poor health.
Fearing continued harassment from the authorities, her husband changed the locks on their apartment unit. Ms. Wei had no alternative but to live with her daughter in Shandong Province. Months later she received a subpoena ordering her to appear in divorce court on October 20, 2016. She immediately returned to Gansu on September 26, only to be blocked from her home by her husband again. She went to the local police station asking for assistance but was seized and sent to the Qingcheng County Detention Center.
Ms. Wei was tried on November 22 and was sentenced to three years in prison. She plans to appeal the verdict.
