(Minghui.org) Ms. Sun Qian, a Canadian citizen and businesswoman, was mistreated in the Beijing First Detention Center. Her lawyer has not been able to see her since May 5. When the Canadian consul visited her on May 18, she was handcuffed and shackled.
Ms. Sun's lawyer saw her being pushed around by a male officer when he visited her on the morning of May 5.
“A male officer pushed Ms. Sun to make her hurry,” said her lawyer. “He also yelled at her when she left after our meeting. Ms. Sun said, ‘Falun Dafa is good,’and she asked the officer to treat her properly. The officer got angry. Another officer then came over and they took her to her cell.”
The lawyer decided to meet with Ms. Sun that afternoon. But no one came after he’d waited for a long time. Finally an officer showed up and said that Ms. Sun did not want to see him. The lawyer went to the procuratorate office and complained about the officer's mistreatment of Ms. Sun that morning. Two guards claimed that the incident that morning had been a misunderstanding. The lawyer was not allowed to see Ms. Sun that afternoon.
When the lawyer went to see Ms. Sun on May 17, detention center officials refused to let him meet her, claiming that her mood was unstable. They told him that the preliminary investigator said that not only should they not let the lawyer see her, but that the procurator and the court staff were not to see her either.
Ms. Sun's family went to the Canadian Embassy for help. The Canadian consul went to the detention center and saw her on May 18. According to the consul, Ms. Sun was pushed and fell on May 5. Her arm was bruised because four guards had held her down. They also sprayed her with pepper water.
Ms. Sun has been kept in handcuffs and shackles, which were not removed even when she slept. Her wrists were bruised.
