(Minghui.org) A Kunming resident who was recently sentenced to three years and three months for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline persecuted by the communist regime, is appealing his conviction.
Mr. Feng Baoding received the verdict issued by the Xishan District Court on September 20, 2018. His lawyer has filed the appeal with the Kunming Intermediate Court and requested that the court hear the case again or repeal the sentence.
Mr. Feng was arrested on October 7, 2017 for posting stickers with messages about Falun Gong. He was tried by the Xishan District Court on September 6.
The prosecutor charged him for “undermining law enforcement with a cult organization,” the standard pretext to criminalize Falun Gong practitioners.
Many of Mr. Feng's friends were stopped outside of the court and prohibited from attending the hearing.
Mr. Feng is currently detained at the Anning City Detention Center.
In addition to prison time, he was also fined 1,000 yuan.
