(Minghui.org) A resident of Yinchuan City in the Ningxia autonomous region is facing indictment for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Jiang Hongying, in her 70s, was arrested on July 18, 2019 at her rented residence. She developed a medical condition in detention and was then released on bail.
After her arrest was approved by the local procuratorate on August 23, the police took her back into custody on August 30, 2019. She is currently held at a local detention center.
Past Persecution for Upholding Her Faith
Ms. Jiang, a retired employee of the Ningxia Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, suffered tremendous ordeals in the early stage of her life.
Her father died when she was 4. She lost her mother at 23 and then her 27-year-old son at 43. The deep grief of losing her loved ones took a toll on her health, and she suffered many ailments.
She was introduced to Falun Gong in 1997. She soon regained her health and gained a new outlook on life.
After the communist regime began its persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, however, Ms. Jiang refused to renounce her faith and was given two terms of forced labor and two terms in prison, for a total of ten years and three months.
Her employer stopped her pay while she was serving time in the forced labor camp.
After she was released from prison in 2014, the Yinchuan City Social Security Office stopped issuing her pension payments. She was forced to return all the payments she had received during her previous imprisonment, before the social security office began to issue her new payments again.
Ms. Jiang was arrested again on December 22, 2014 and suffered a stroke while being held at Yinchuan City Detention Center. She was released on bail and placed under house arrest on January 20, 2016.
