(Minghui.org) About ten Falun Gong practitioners in Duolun County, Inner Mongolia, have been harassed for their faith since June 2020 in the new “Zero-out campaign.”
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
In the campaign initiated by the Central Political and Legal Affairs Committee, an extra-judiciary agency tasked to persecute Falun Gong and given the power to override the law enforcement and judiciary systems, local authorities at various government levels are ordered to visit every practitioner on their list, ask whether they still practice Falun Gong, and order them to write statements to renounce Falun Gong.
Most practitioners refused to comply with the unlawful request targeting their faith. There were also some residential staff members who understand the facts about Falun Gong and didn’t follow the order to harass the practitioners.
Ms. Xiao Yuping was harassed at home on August 1, 2020, and told to sign a statement to renounce Falun Gong. She refused. The police arrested her the next day, with the excuse that she was reported for having a poster on her wall that said, “Falun Dafa is good.” She was later released due to a medical condition.
Mr. Feng was arrested on August 4 and detained for two hours in the police station.
Ms. Wang Lifeng was arrested on August 6, also after being reported for having Falun Gong related paintings and posters on her wall. She was detained for five days. The police also attempted to arrest her father, Mr. Wang Xuehua but relented when his family protested.
The details about other harassment cases remain to be investigated.
