(Minghui.org) A Dalian City, Liaoning Province resident is facing prosecution for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Qi Yan, 57, distributed information about the persecution of Falun Gong in her own residential complex during the coronavirus lockdown. She was recorded by the surveillance camera of a resident and reported to the police.
The police soon identified her after analyzing her clothes and handbag. They also found out that she had left Dalian to visit her husband, who was working in Yingkou City in the same province.
On April 2, 2020, Ms. Qi was approached by two plainclothes officers in a hallway in her husband's apartment building in Yingkou. After confirming her identity, the male officer grabbed her arm, pushed her to the ground and held her down. The female officer videotaped her. Around the same time, another six male officers showed up, handcuffed her, snatched her keys and went to ransack her husband's apartment.
The officer who held her on the ground (whose name was later confirmed to be Zhu Jun) showed Ms. Qi a clip of the video of her distributing Falun Gong materials in her residential complex in Dalian. He accused her of “undermining law enforcement” and confiscated her Falun Gong books and some posters, a computer and a DVD burner.
The police then brought Ms. Qi to her home in Dalian and confiscated her computer, Falun Gong books, as well as many other personal items.
Ms. Qi was then taken to the Qixianling Police Station for interrogation. She refused to answer the police’s questions. On the next morning, the police took her photo and collected her fingerprints, foot prints and blood sample. She was given six months of house arrest.
The police informed Ms. Qi on August 17, 2020 that they had submitted her case to the Ganjingzi Procuratorate in Dalian.
This isn’t the first time that Ms. Qi has been targeted for her faith. Back in October 1999, she was fired by the Industrial and Commercial Bank after she was arrested for going to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong.
