(Minghui.org) A Xingtai City, Hebei Province resident arrested for her faith in Falun Gong was released a day later after her husband’s strong demand for her release.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Xia Yunsheng, 54, was arrested at work on July 29, 2020 by seven police officers, who sent her straight to a brainwashing center located in a former police building.
Three other officers ransacked Ms. Xia’s home right after her arrest, but didn’t find any Falun Gong related materials.
Upon learning of Ms. Xia’s arrest, her husband immediately rushed to the brainwashing center. After Ms. Xia described the details of her arrest to him, he demanded that the brainwashing center immediately release his wife within 24 hours, or he would file a complaint against them.
He returned to the brainwashing center the next morning and again demanded his wife's release. After a while, Ms. Xia was allowed to go home with him.
This wasn’t the first time that Ms. Xia has been persecuted for her faith. She was fired by her workplace and forced to live away from home in October 2001. She was sentenced to three years in Hebei Province Women’s Prison following her arrest in May 2004.
