(Minghui.org) A 68-year-old woman was recently sentenced to three years for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Sun Guifang, of Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was arrested on September 17, 2019. The director of her neighborhood committee deceived Ms. Sun into opening her door by saying that her plumbing pipe was leaking into the apartment below. Many of her Falun Gong books and personal belongings were confiscated during the home raid.
Ms. Sun, who was one of eight Falun Gong practitioners arrested that day, was tried by the Jinzhou District Court on June 4, 2020. Her lawyer entered a not guilty plea for her. The judge recently announced her verdict, but the exact date of the announcement remains to be investigated.
Prior to her latest prison term, Ms. Sun served one year at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in 2012 for upholding her faith.
