(Minghui.org) A Huludao City, Liaoning Province, resident is on a hunger strike to protest her arbitrary arrest and detention for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Liu Chunying, 64, was arrested at home on June 12, 2020, by a dozen officers. Her computer, printer, a media player, and Falun Gong books were confiscated.
Ms. Liu was released on bail the next day, but she returned to the local police station on August 25, 2020, to urge the officers not to participate in the persecution, only to be arrested again.
The deputy chief of the police station visited Ms. Liu’s family on August 29 to inform them that she was on a hunger strike at the Huludao Detention Center. He said that, during a physical exam, she had dangerously high blood pressure and an irregular heartbeat. He told her family to take her for a follow-up exam after she is released.
Ms. Liu’s family was outraged by her continued detention despite her health. But the deputy chief didn't say when she would be released.
