(Minghui.org) Minghui.org recently confirmed that a Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province resident was sentenced in 2021 to five years for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. This is the third time that Ms. Hu Jixiu has been sentenced since she took up Falun Gong in 2008.
Ms. Hu, 54, was recorded by street cameras while putting up informational materials about Falun Gong on January 28 and 29, 2020. The police arrested her on February 1, 2020 and ransacked her home. She was held at the Haizhu District Detention Center. Her arrest was approved by the Haizhu District Procuratorate on March 9, 2021.
The police submitted Ms. Hu’s case to the procuratorate on April 24, and she was indicted around July. The Haizhu District Court sentenced her to five years with a 10,000-yuan fine in July 2021. She appealed with the Guangzhou City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold her original verdict on October 28, 2021
Prior to her latest ordeal, Ms. Hu had been sentenced to three years with four years probation by the Haizhu District Court on December 8, 2009. She was sentenced again to four years and six months by the Yuexiu District Court on September 4, 2013 and released from the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison in November 2016.
