(Minghui.org) It was recently learned that three residents of Shouguang City, Shandong Province had been sentenced to prison for their shared faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
The three practitioners were arrested separately between February and March 2023. Details of their indictment, trial, and sentencing remain to be investigated.
Ms. Wang Chunxiao, in her 50s, was arrested on February 22, 2023, and sentenced to five years. She was held at the Weifang City Detention Center after her arrest and it’s not clear whether she has been taken to prison after her sentencing. Weifang City oversees Shouguang City.
This is the second time that Ms. Wang has been targeted for her faith. She was previously sentenced to four years following an arrest on May 13, 2017, by the Wenjia Police Station. She was admitted to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison in late November 2017.
Ms. Chen Xiuling was sentenced to four years after being arrested in March 2023. She was also taken to the Weifang City Detention Center. Her latest sentencing was preceded by a nine-year sentence given in 2003.
Mr. Li Jinzhong went to visit his hometown in Houzhen Town, Shouguang City on March 8, 2023. While passing Daotian Town, he talked to people there about Falun Gong and was reported to the police. The Daotian Police Station officers soon came to arrest him and raided his childhood home in Houzhen Town and his current residence in Shouguang City. He was taken to the Shouguang City Detention Center and later sentenced to four years.
