(Minghui.org) A Tonghua City, Jilin Province resident has recently been indicted and is now facing trial for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Yan Shufang, 57, was arrested on September 22, 2022 and has been held at the Tonghua City Detention Center. A clerk from the Liuhe County Court called her husband on February 2, 2023 and attempted to have her family persuade her to renounce Falun Gong.
Since the onset of the persecution, Ms. Yan has been arrested multiple times and spent 13 months in a forced labor camp for upholding her faith. She was subjected to electric shocks and being tied up in a spread eagle position in the labor camp.

Shortly after she was released from serving a four-year prison term on April 24, 2020, she was arrested again on July 28, 2020 and had her home ransacked.
In December 2021, the local social security bureau suspended her pension. She wrote a letter to appeal the decision. Yet the social security bureau turned in the letter to the police, resulting in her arrest on August 16, 2022. The police interrogated her, with the excuse that the letter mentioned the words “Falun Gong.” She was later put on house arrest and taken back into custody on September 22.
