(Minghui.org) A woman in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, was sentenced to five and a half years on December 21, 2022, for practicing Falun Gong. This is the third time that Ms. Yu Aihua has been sentenced since the Chinese communist regime initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999.
Ms. Yu, 71, was arrested on November 1, 2021, after being reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. She was released on bail and placed under house arrest on November 5 due to her health.
The Xiangzhou District Procuratorate indicted Ms. Yu on June 22, 2022, and moved her case to the Xiangzhou District Court, which later sentenced her to five and a half years with a 10,000-yuan fine. She appealed to the Zhuhai City Intermediate Court on December 30 and is awaiting a verdict at home.
Ms. Yu used to suffer from many ailments. Three months after she took up Falun Gong in 1998, she recovered and her family relationships improved.
Prior to her latest sentencing, she was sentenced to three years by the Xiangzhou District Court on June 2, 2008, and to three years again by the Jinwan District Court on June 10, 2015.
