(Minghui.org) A Shenzhou City, Hebei Province resident was given a prison term of two years and eight months in February 2023 for practicing Falun Gong. She has since been taken to the Hebei Province Women’s Prison.
Ms. Liu Weiru was recorded by surveillance cameras putting up Falun Gong posters in Shenzhou and Beijing in 2019. The Shenzhou police ransacked her home twice in January 2020, confiscating her computer, printer, and Falun Gong books.
The Beijing police came to Ms. Liu’s home not long after. They worked with the police in Shenzhou and took her to the Hengshui City Detention Center. Due to a severe lung condition, she was denied admission and released. The police ordered her to report to them every day. She refused to comply and went into hiding. Under the enormous pressure, she had a mental collapse and was taken to the Shenzhou City Psychiatric Hospital by her family.
When Ms. Liu was discharged six months later, the Anping County Court held a hearing of her case. In 2022, her family sent her back to the psychiatric hospital again and she was held there for three months.
The judge announced a prison sentence for Ms. Liu of two years and eight months in February 2023.
