(Minghui.org) A Qinglong County, Hebei Province, resident, was sentenced to two years and ten months for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Hao Liping was arrested on December 13, 2023, while temporarily staying at 88-year-old Ms. Liu Xuelan’s home in Qinhuangdao City (which oversees Qinglong County). About seven officers broke into Ms. Liu’s home at 9 a.m. that day and seized both women. The police targeted them after surveillance cameras recorded them distributing calendars bearing Falun Gong information at bus stops.

While Ms. Liu was later released, Ms. Hao was issued a formal arrest warrant and taken to the Qinhuangdao City Detention Center. She stood trial at the Funing District Court on August 20, 2024 and was later sentenced to two years and ten months. Prior to her latest ordeal, she was detained for ten days after an earlier arrest on May 7, 2017. She was also repeatedly harassed at home for her faith over the years.
