(Minghui.org) The principles one upholds are the foundation of a person’s conduct in life, for without principles, one is doing things arbitrarily. However, it is not always easy to adhere to principles, especially when cultivating, when we deal with issues that directly concern our personal fame and gain or feelings, and we might easily get confused and start thinking like a non-cultivator. In such situations, we as Dafa practitioners are being tested on whether we can handle issues with strong righteous thoughts based on the Fa. This also reflects our understanding of the Fa principles and our faith in Master Li and the Fa, and whether we can truly remain as unshakable and as strong as diamond.

Master said,

“Throughout the entire course of your cultivation there will be the question of how you fundamentally understand the Fa and whether you can be steadfast—you will be tested on whether you are steadfast in the Fa all the way until the last step of your cultivation.” (“Suggestions Given at the Beijing Falun Dafa Assistants’ Meeting,” Further Discussions on Falun Dafa)

Not long ago, I was told that another practitioner was downloading Shen Yun shows to USB drives and I was asked if I wanted one. I thought it was wrong to do this. I said to him that in order not to interfere with Shen Yun’s endeavor to save people, the Minghui Editorial Board published a notice on February 22, 2016, which made it very clear that “... regardless of whether you are in mainland China or overseas, to please immediately destroy all Shen Yun videos and DVDs in your possession and stop distributing the China-only edition of Shen Yun DVDs.”

Master also reminded us at the 2015 New York Fa Conference:

“That’s right, you can’t make the video available on the Internet, as I said earlier. That is because once you put them on the Internet, there is no longer a division between China and the rest of the world. And doing that will negatively impact the effect that Shen Yun has saving people via live performances. If some people who are meant to attend the shows were to watch the DVD, they would forgo seeing the actual performance. Then those that should have been saved would not be, because the DVDs are not as powerful.” (“Fa Teaching Given at the 2015 New York Fa Conference,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. XIII)

I told him that once Shen Yun DVDs spread outside China, people would watch the DVDs instead of watching Shen Yun in theaters.

“I don’t care. I didn’t download the shows,” he argued, and said, “Don’t jump to conclusions based on hearsay.”

I was shocked to hear his words, and reminded him of what Master previously told us,

“When other people attack Dafa, if you feel that they’re not attacking you, then you are not a member of Dafa.” (Teachings at the Fa Conference in Australia).

Although the issue is not an attack on Dafa, it is similar. If the USBs became available abroad, wouldn’t they interfere with Master’s and Shen Yun’s efforts to save people? It is so difficult to save people these days, and the evil CCP is trying its best to sabotage Master’s salvation of people both inside and outside of China. How can we cause more chaos? Isn’t this a very serious matter?

He continued arguing, saying it wouldn’t hurt if he only watched it at home.

“You cannot watch it even in your own home. This is a matter of principle. Master has already told us not to do that; have we truly listened to what Master said? What does it mean to believe in Master and the Fa? Following what Master said is truly believing in Master and the Fa. You were given a USB, and you wanted to pass it on to me. I wonder if the other person has already passed them on to others. I suggest you go to his place now and destroy the downloaded videos immediately. If he has given USBs to others, please tell him to get them back and destroy them as well,” I said.

He looked a bit hesitant, so I said, “If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, I will go and talk to the practitioner. Now that I’m aware of the matter, we should treat it seriously, starting with myself.”

Upon hearing this, the practitioner said, “There is no need for you to bother. I’ll go and fix it with the practitioner.”

After a few complications were sorted out, the issue was resolved.

My understanding is that when it comes to principles, we must uphold them regardless of what others think of us. Our practice is about cultivating solidly, truly elevating ourselves, and assimilating to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
