(Minghui.org) Ms. Yan Xiling, a 66-year-old Qingzhou City, Weifang City, Shandong Province, resident, was arrested on November 29, 2024, for her faith in Falun Gong. She is currently held at the Weifang City Detention Center. Other details about her case aren’t clear.
Since the Chinese communist regime ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Yan has been arrested many times. She served two three-year terms of forced labor between 2001 and 2007, and jailed for seven years from 2014 to 2021. Merely months after her prison release, she was arrested again and sentenced to another five years, which she was allowed to serve outside of prison.
Two Forced Labor Camp Terms Totaling Six Years
Ms. Yan was forced to live away from home in 2001 to avoid the persecution. She was soon reported to the police and arrested. She was given three years at the Shandong Province Second Women’s Forced Labor Camp. When she was released in October 2004, she was directly taken to the Qingzhou City Brainwashing Center by officers Xu Wende and Zuo Hengfa. They did not release her until one month later.
Officer Zuo made several attempts to arrest Ms. Yan again in the spring of 2005. She was forced to live away from home for the second time.
While visiting a former practitioner on June 19, 2006, Ms. Yan was reported by that person and arrested again. After over ten days of detention at the Qingzhou City Detention Center, she was given another three-year term at the Shandong Province Women’s Forced Labor Camp. The guards forced her to watch videos or listen to audios demonizing Falun Gong, as well as to attend brainwashing sessions run by former practitioners. She wasn’t allowed to wash herself and was sometimes forced to stand for long hours until her legs and feet were severely swollen. She almost died once after being deprived of sleep for almost two weeks.
Two Prison Terms Totaling Twelve Years
Ms. Yan was arrested again on February 26, 2014 by officers of the Qingzhou City Domestic Security Office and Beiguan Police Station. She was held at the Weifang City Detention Center. The Qingzhou City Court scheduled a hearing of her case on May 15, 2014, but later canceled it as she was extremely weak due to the torture in custody. The judge still sentenced her to seven years later on and she served time at the Shandong Province Women’s Prison.
On June 21, 2021, only a few months after Ms. Yan was released, she was arrested again by officers of the Qingzhou City Domestic Security Office. She held a hunger strike for over a month at the detention center and was released in critical condition. When she recovered a bit, the police took her back into custody.
The Qingzhou City Court sentenced Ms. Yan to five years in November 2021. She was allowed to serve her sentence outside of prison.
