(Minghui.org) Two Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, residents, were sentenced to prison on December 30, 2024, for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Wang Guiling, 69, was sentenced to five years and fined 7,000 yuan. Mr. Wang Zhoushan (no relation), 53, received one and a half years and was fined 3,000 yuan.

The two practitioners were arrested in a police sweep on April 14, 2024. They appeared in the Linghai City Court on November 20, 2024, together with four other practitioners who were arrested on the same day. The judge convicted them weeks later.

Prior to their latest persecution, both practitioners have been targeted for their faith in the past 25 years.

Mr. Wang Guiling – Four Labor Camp Terms and a Prison Term

Forced Labor Camp Terms

Mr. Wang Guiling, a former employee of the Beishan Construction Company, was first arrested in the spring of 2000 for doing the Falun Gong exercises outdoors and he was sentenced to one year at the Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp.

On October 6, 2000, the labor camp put all practitioners who refused to renounce Falun Gong in solitary confinement and subjected them to strict management. The practitioners, including Mr. Wang, held a hunger strike to protest.

On the next day, Zhang Haiping, the political instructor, and Jin Fuli, the deputy director of the labor camp, ordered the guards to force-feed Mr. Wang. They chained him to a metal chair. Shi Qingshan, the director of the labor camp’s clinic, pried open his mouth with a mouth opener. Shi inserted the opener so deep that Mr. Wang had difficulty breathing. One of his lower incisors broke and kept bleeding. Shi then inserted a finger-wide tube into Mr. Wang’s stomach and pulled it back and forth to make him suffer even more. Mr. Wang kept twitching due to the excruciating pain.

Shi force-fed Mr. Wang some unknown drugs. He also gave Mr. Wang two shots into his abdomen and calf muscles. Fifteen minutes after the injections, Mr. Wang began to vomit and have loose bowels, non-stop. After two hours, he felt extremely thirsty. At the same time, the guards kept detailed records of the frequency and interval he used the restroom and how many times he drank water. One of the labor camp doctors later revealed that they were experimenting with drugs which were used on large livestock such as cattle and horses.

Later, the guards handcuffed Mr. Wang and other practitioners who were on hunger strikes behind their backs and forced them to sit on a small stool motionless for 18 hours a day. The longest duration of the sitting torture was 48 hours. If the practitioners couldn’t remain seated, the guards hung them up by their wrists. Mr. Wang was once hung up for two days.

Because Mr. Wang recited Falun Gong’s teachings together with five other practitioners on the evening of February 10, 2001, guard Yang Tinglun instigated inmates Ju Yan, Jiang Zhipeng, Hao Chunsheng and Sun Weichen to interrupt them. In protest, the practitioners raised their voices. Guard Yang rushed in and ordered the inmates to drag Mr. Wang out of the cell by his neck. Another practitioner, Mr. Shi Zhongyan, tried to stop them, but was pushed to the ground and beaten by the inmates.

In the hallway, one inmate hit Mr. Wang’s rib cage hard. He had difficulty breathing and collapsed on the ground. Then the inmates dragged him into the laundry room and beat him.

Mr. Wang, Mr. Shi and four other practitioners who were tortured that evening reported the situation to the labor camp leadership in writing, demanding they hold the perpetrators accountable. On the afternoon of February 12, 2001, ordered by political instructor Zhang Haiping, more than twenty guards rushed into their cell, shoved them to the ground, handcuffed them and took them to separate rooms.

Each practitioner was watched by two guards, two inmates, and two former practitioners who gave up Falun Gong and assisted the guards in the persecution. The guards kept the practitioners handcuffed around the clock and refused to remove the handcuffs even when they ate, slept, or used the restroom. Each practitioner also had his term extended by two to five months. Mr. Wang was released around August 2001. Mr. Shi was tortured to death at the labor camp on April 26, 2003.

Mr. Wang was given another three-year term at the Jinzhou City Forced Labor Camp in December 2002. He was beaten as soon as he arrived because he refused to wear the vest for inmates.

Guard Yang told Mr. Wang on December 30, 2002, “The government is ordering us to transform you. You have to transform no matter what.”

Mr. Wang was handcuffed behind his back and pushed to the corner of a room. The guards and inmates took turns monitoring him. They didn’t allow him to sleep and forced him to watch anti-Falun Gong videos that were played on the TV non-stop. Around 9 p.m., the guards put his legs in the double-lotus position and tied him up. After half an hour, they stripped off his clothes and shocked him with high-voltage electric batons on his chest, back and the soles of his feet. His body shook so hard that the ropes used to tie him up broke twice.

After Mr. Wang was released, he moved and was given two more labor camp terms (details unknown).

Five-Year Prison Term

Mr. Wang was arrested again in the wee hours of February 25, 2008, by officers from the Linghe Police Station and the Longjiang Police Station in Jinzhou. They beat him so hard that five of his teeth were knocked out. In late July 2008, after five months at the Jinzhou City Second Detention Center, he was sentenced to five years and taken to the Panjin Prison.

The frequent torture methods used at the Panjin Prison included beating, electric shocks, hanging up, tiger bench, inserting needles into fingernails, burning with cigarettes, force-feeding, involuntary drug administration, and being exposured to mosquitoes.

Mr. Wang was transferred to the Kangjiashan Prison in Shenyang City on May 8, 2012 and continued to be subjected to all kinds of torture.

After Mr. Wang was finally released in 2013, he faced financial persecution and had his pension suspended. The police constantly harassed him and his family members, rendering them unable to live a normal life.

Mr. Wang Zhoushan – Two Labor Camp Terms and Job Loss

Mr. Wang Zhoushan went to the Shihua Park to do the Falun Gong exercises in late July 1999, a week after the onset of the persecution. He was arrested by officers from the Shiyou Police Station and was not released until 2 a.m. To protest the persecution, he returned to the park to do Falun Gong exercises again a few days later. The police detained him for 15 days.

Mr. Wang went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong in October 1999. He was arrested and escorted back by officers from the Shiyou Police Station. After serving a 30-day criminal detention, he returned to Beijing to appeal and was escorted back again. The Jinzhou City Police Department gave him two years at the Jinzhou City Forced Labor Camp.

After Mr. Wang was released in September 2001, the police constantly harassed him and searched his residence.

Mr. Wang was arrested at his workplace, the Jinzhou Petroleum Company Research Institute, in the spring of 2002, by officers Li Hongtao and Jin of the Shiyou Police Station. Li pocketed Mr. Wang’s 300 yuan in cash and his new Walkman. Mr. Wang later escaped and was forced to live away from home, after learning the police were planning to take him to a brainwashing center. He was accused of being absent from work, and his workplace fired him in May 2002.

Mr. Wang was arrested again on September 14, 2002, for printing informational materials about Falun Gong. That month, he was given a second labor camp term of three years by the Jinzhou City Police Department. The guards at the Jinzhou City Forced Labor Camp tortured him for two days, which caused his legs to become deformed and bruised. He was in a delirious state. He was also deprived of sleep for 19 consecutive days. The guards also injected him with unknown drugs.

After Mr. Wang was released, the Jinzhou City 610 Office worked with the Shiyou Police Station to transfer his household registration out of Jinzhou. They also refused to issue him an ID, which made it impossible for him to find a full time job.
