(Minghui.org) Our local group recently submitted two articles to the Minghui website regarding a local couple, where both practitioners were borrowing money from other practitioners for their child’s tuition. This situation is ongoing, has persisted for over ten years, and involves large sums of money and many practitioners. Moreover, it has impacted the local cultivation environment. Some practitioners became preoccupied with the issue, and frequently discussed it during Fa study sessions, or sometimes before the Fa study began. For those unable to recover their money, their family members who are not practitioners have grown resentful toward the couple, and their feelings escalated into criticism of Falun Dafa.
Although some practitioners approached the couple to share their understandings from the perspective of the Fa, the couple did not appear to accept what was said, and did not reflect on their actions. In response, some of us decided to submit articles to Minghui, hoping this might impact the couple. However, after the first article was not published, we submitted another one, but it was also not published.
Upon reflection, we recognized that our intentions were good, but the tone of our first article was not calm, and carried traces of blame and accusation. We corrected this in the second submission, striving for a calm and concise tone, yet it was also not published. Meanwhile, the issue persisted, with the couple borrowing over 100,000 yuan in recent months. Faced with the ongoing situation, we felt it inappropriate to remain silent, but struggled to find a way to address the matter comprehensively within the local practitioner community.
Recently, while studying Master’s lecture, “Fa Teaching Given at the New York Fa Conference Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Dafa’s Spreading” (Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. XIV), I came across a practitioner’s question about serious deviations from the Fa in their local environment. The practitioner mentioned submitting articles to Minghui to alert others, but the articles were not published.
In response, Master said:
“You have to deal with complicated people as part of your practice—people of different calibers, with different realms of thought, and with different ways of thinking and acting. That is why it’s hard to save people. Whenever bizarre things like you were describing happen among Dafa disciples, it means that there are people in that locale who have related attachments. If no one there were attached to such things, they wouldn’t happen. So what’s the reason then, if you look back, for all of the bizarre things that have happened throughout China over the years? They were meant to reveal the human thoughts and attachments that you haven’t removed while practicing, to lead you to get deceived, to make you suffer setbacks, to lose money, and so on. Only after getting badly bruised did people finally wake up. So the purpose is to remove your attachments. That’s the whole point, and what caused those things to occur.”
I suddenly realized that Master’s teaching illuminated our situation. Our local practitioners did not have a clear understanding of the Fa, and instead enabled the couple’s behavior. We failed to promptly look within and examine our cultivation amidst these issues, which allowed the situation to persist for years and consume significant Dafa resources.
We initially thought that the couple was temporarily short of funds and that the amounts involved were small, but we later learned they had borrowed extensively from many practitioners from the beginning. We were wrong, and it took us a long time to recognize that our sentimentality toward the couple allowed the situation to persist.
The severity of the issue made us want to resolve it immediately and become impatient or even frustrated when other practitioners did not realize its severity. Unable to discuss this comprehensively in our local environment, we sought an external solution by submitting two articles for publication.
Master said:
“A cultivator believes he should only focus on practicing, without paying attention to obtaining gong. In cultivation and practice one should be in a state free of intention. As long as you focus on cultivating your xinxing, you will make breakthroughs in your level and certainly get things you deserve. If you cannot give something up, isn’t it an attachment?” (Lecture Two, Zhuan Falun)
From this, we realized that we needed to act in accordance with the Fa once were clear on the matter, without being attached to the outcome.
We hereby remind practitioners to cultivate inwardly when faced with conflicts, rather than seeking external solutions. Let us stop disputing, complaining, blaming, or becoming impatient. Instead, we should relinquish our attachments to recovering the money or expecting the couple to change. Each of us needs to reflect on our mindset when we lent the money, our reactions when it was not returned, and our current understanding of the matter. Ultimately, the key is to examine why our hearts were moved.
If each practitioner gains a clear understanding of the Fa in this situation, the evil will have no room to exploit our shortcomings.
These are my limited understandings. Please compassionately point out anything that does not align with the Fa.
