(Minghui.org) A woman in Dezhou City, Shandong Province was sentenced to one year for her faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.
Ms. Li Guiqin, in her 70s, was arrested on August 20, 2025 and given one month of detention at the Dezhou City Detention Center. The police did not release her on September 21 as promised. Her family then received a court notice saying that she had been sentenced to one year in prison. They were not told when she was indicted, tried, or sentenced. The detention center also barred them from visiting her.
This is not the first time that Ms. Li has been targeted for her faith. She was previously arrested in 2013 by the Qiansun Town Police Station officers. It is unclear how long she was detained.
While distributing Falun Gong materials in nearby Ningjin County on August 20, 2015, Ms. Li was reported and arrested by officers from the Dacaoxiang Town Police Station. They extorted 5,000 yuan from her and released her that night.
