(Minghui.org) Ms. Yang Lijun from Dapu County, Guangdong Province, was sentenced to two years and three months in January 2025 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Yang was arrested at 10 a.m. on April 18, 2024, by officers from the Meizhou City Police Department and its subordinate, the Dapu County Domestic Security Division. They searched both floors of her house and took her to the Meizhou City Detention Center.
Judge Wei Donghua from the Meixian District Court heard the case on October 10, 2024 and sentenced Ms. Yang to two years and three months in January 2025. He also fined her an unknown amount of money.
This is not the first time that Ms. Yang, a former beauty salon owner, has been targeted for her faith. She was given eighteen months of forced labor at the Sanshui Women’s Labor Camp on January 5, 2002.
While boarding a plane at the Shenzhen Airport in Guangdong Province at around 9 a.m. on January 29, 2010, Ms. Yang was arrested for “participating in illegal fund-raising in Jishou City, Hunan Province.” She once worked at a real estate company in Hunan Province but was never involved in the fund-raising scandal. The Shenzhen police however turned her over to the Hunan police, who put her in a detention center in Changsha (the capital city of Hunan Province). She was later released at an unknown time.
Ms. Yang was visiting Shenzhen City on July 22, 2011 when she was arrested. She was held at the Luohu District Detention Center for five days before she was released. Only two days later she was arrested again, this time by police in Dapu County. They warned her not to visit Shenzhen again in one month because the FISU World University Games were to be held there.
Ms. Yang later moved to Shenzhen and was arrested at her home on the night of January 24, 2014. Her computer, printer and Falun Gong books were confiscated. She was held at the Longgang District Lockup for 15 days.
Around May 10, 2015, Ms. Yang flew to Haikou City, Hainan Province together with her former boss at the real estate company in Hunan Province for vacation. They were arrested in Haikou. Ms. Yang was held at a brainwashing center located in a hotel for about 40 days.
Ms. Yang later moved back to Dapu County and was arrested again on April 18, 2024. She was sentenced in January 2025 and it’s unclear where she is being held.
