(Minghui.org) Since 2000, the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison, established in 1958, has been the sole facility to hold female Falun Gong practitioners in the province who were sentenced for their faith.

A recently released Falun Gong practitioner wrote to Minghui.org and described the persecution she experienced or witnessed at the prison.

All newly admitted Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to intensive “training.” They were ordered to write statements to denounce Falun Gong. Those who refused to write were not allowed to wash themselves, brush their teeth, do laundry, or change their underwear for 14 straight days, even during the hot summer. The guards also did not provide them with any toilet paper. Rain or shine, the practitioners must participate in all kinds of strenuous physical exercises and “study sessions,” which included singing pro-Chinese Communist Party (CCP) songs, raising their hands to pledge allegiance to the CCP, undergoing psychological testing, and filling out various forms.

Those who refused to write statements to denounce Falun Gong after the first 14 days of their admission were then reassigned to various divisions. They were still not allowed to brush their teeth or shower, even when their hair became oily and they stank. The guards eventually could not stand the smell any more and allowed the practitioners 10 minutes to wash themselves and do their laundry.

The practitioners were not allowed to call their families or purchase daily necessities. Some were deprived of in-person family visits for years.

The guards also forced the practitioners to do hard labor every day and meet certain quotas. After a long day of work, the practitioners had to do “homework” upon returning to their cells. The homework was all about writing about their understanding of Falun Gong. Those who failed to finish their “assignments” had to walk in place while reciting the prison rules.

In order to instigate other inmates’ hatred towards Falun Gong practitioners, the guards paired inmates and practitioners in groups of 3-5. Group members must stay together at all times, including when they use the restroom. This meant that when practitioners were punished, such as being forced to stand for long hours, for upholding their faith, the inmates had to stay with them.
