(Minghui.org) Minghui.org learned in late January 2025 that a Wuhan City, Hubei Province resident had been sentenced to a four-year prison term for raising awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s persecution of his faith, Falun Gong.

Mr. Zhang Sifeng

Mr. Zhang Sifeng, around age 69, was arrested as soon as he stepped out of the door after 6 a.m. on May 12, 2024. Agents from the Jianghan District Domestic Security Division raided his home and took him to the Jianghan District Detention Center. According to an insider, someone received a flash drive containing Falun Gong information two days prior and reported it to the police, who then identified Mr. Zhang by looking at surveillance videos.

The Jianghan District Procuratorate issued a formal arrest warrant for Mr. Zhang on May 26, and he was transferred from the Jianghan District Lockup to the Jianghan District Detention Center the next day. On July 2, he was moved to the Hanyang District Detention Center. His case was reassigned to the Hanyang District Procuratorate shortly afterwards.

Mr. Zhang was indicted in October 2024 and he appeared in the Hanyang District Court on November 12. His exact sentencing date isn’t clear.

This is not the first time that Mr. Zhang, a former employee of the Huayuan Electrical Engineering Company, was targeted for his faith. He was previously arrested numerous times, given two, one-year forced labor terms, and held at several different local brainwashing centers over the years.
