(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhu Huiluan, 51, from Shanwei City, Guangdong Province, was sent to Guangdong Province Women’s Prison on January 16, 2025, to serve a 3.5-year term for practicing Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhu, a former bank employee, was arrested at her rental place in Jieyang City in Guangdong Province on March 11, 2024. She was taken to the Jieyang City Detention Center the next day and secretly sentenced to 3.5 years by the Jiedong District Court in October 2024. Her family was not notified, nor were they given any legal documents regarding her case. They didn’t learn about her sentence until late December 2024, when they were first allowed to visit her after she was arrested.
Ms. Zhu’s latest arrest came nearly 20 years after she left home to avoid the persecution. After the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and was arrested. She was given an unknown term of forced labor but did not serve it because of her poor health. When she returned home, she faced constant harassment from local 610 Office agents and she was also fired from her job.
In order to avoid the endless harassment, Ms. Zhu went into hiding in 2006. The 610 Office agents then began harassing her sister and their parents, demanding to know where she was. They threatened to cancel her household registration as if she was dead and bar her sister from applying for retirement benefits.
Ms. Zhu’s parents moved back to their hometown in Jieyang City, but the Shanwei police followed them there, and continued to harass them. Ms. Zhu’s father was so traumatized that he died around 2012.
