(Minghui.org) The coordinator of our city called me and notified me to attend a meeting in Changchun on July 26, 1998, a week before the event. I was a driver for my company and I had assignments lined up, so I was not sure whether I could attend. My company did not assign me any tasks for that day, so I took a bus with two other practitioners to Changchun early in the morning.
We saw people practicing Falun Gong in groups with banners and display boards promoting the practice at many major street corners as the bus entered Changchun. We joined a group practice after we got off the bus at the terminal. We then joined a Fa-study group. The lead coordinator of Changchun divided us into several smaller groups to walk to the Shangri-La Hotel in batches.
The conference room in the hotel was solemnly decorated. The podium was covered with yellow cloth and several large flower baskets with fresh flowers were placed on both sides. I was excited as I sensed that Master would come to this Fa conference. Everyone sat down in rows according to their assigned seats. My seat was on the aisle three rows from the center-left gate.
I stood up to go out before the conference. I saw Master in the hall. He was wearing a suit and was coming in from the lobby with his arms waving (turning a big law wheel). The lead coordinator said, “Everyone, please welcome Master!” Everyone stood up and applauded. Master waved his hands at us while he entered the conference room. I was spun around in a circle by the energy from Master. I don’t know how to describe the feeling, as my tears kept flowing. Two practitioners presented Master with flowers.
The conference room became quiet. Everyone listened attentively when Master started the Fa lecture. A staff member brought a taller chair and replaced the lower one for Master a short time later. Master took off his suit jacket and put it on the back of the chair. This scene appeared in my dream two months later.
I saw several practitioners taking notes when Master began to talk. I wondered if this meeting allowed people to take notes, so I was also tempted and took out a pen. I wrote down a few words, but then I saw that the words were Master’s image, so I stopped writing immediately. Not long after, a practitioner handed Master a note saying that someone was taking notes. Master told attendees not to do so. I said in my heart: Master, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have taken notes.
During the break, Master came down from the platform and stood on the steps. Some new students stood in a circle around him, asking him questions. Master held a bottle of water but did not drink a single sip. He continued to answer questions from the students. I was behind a practitioner standing in front of Master. Master’s tall figure was compassionate, peaceful, and amiable. I felt happy and proud to be standing in front of Master.
After a 10-minute break, Master continued to teach the Fa and answer questions raised by students. More than five hours passed before we realized it. We stood and applauded as Master was leaving the conference room. Master shook hands with many practitioners along the aisle.
Master said,
“… as today you are the luckiest being in the cosmos. You are a Dafa student, and even gods in the heavens envy you.” (Teachings at the Conference in Australia)
Yes, I was so lucky. That was the last public lecture given by Master in China and I was honored to be able to attend it. I miss Master so much whenever I think of that day and when I read Teachings at the Conference of Changchun Assistants. Master is always encouraging assistants to study the Fa well, to guide the fellow practitioners around them, and to fulfill their responsibilities as assistants.
