(Minghui.org) Ms. Wu Yongqiong, 58, from Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province, is set to stand trial at 9:30 a.m. on October 25, 2025 because she practices Falun Gong.
Ms. Wu, who was born in November 1966, was arrested at her home around 1:20 p.m. on February 1, 2024, by plainclothes officers from the Dong District Police Department. They confiscated over 750 yuan in paper currency printed with Falun Gong messages, letters containing Falun Gong information, and envelopes with the recipients’ names and addresses already written on them.
Since the Chinese Communist Party started the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Ms. Wu used various means to debunk the propaganda perpetuated by the regime, including printing messages on banknotes and mailing letters to the public.
The police released Ms. Wu on bail at 8:30 p.m. the day she was arrested. Officer Liu Zhenghua from the Dadukou Police Station called her on August 15, 2024 to say that the police completed the investigation and were planning to submit her case to the local procuratorate.
It is unclear when Ms. Wu was indicted. Minghui.org was only able to confirm that her court date has been set for October 25, 2025.
This is not the first time Ms. Wu was targeted for her faith. Her home was raided on July 25, 2000 and her Falun Gong books and 200 yuan in cash were confiscated. She was held at the Zaoziping Police Station overnight and taken to the Panzhihua City Detention Center the next day. After 15 days of criminal detention, she was released on one-year bail.
On April 12, 2007, officers Duan Qing and Zou Yongjun from the Panzhihua City Domestic Security Office along with agents from the Dong District Police Department arrested Ms. Wu at work. The security guards at her workplace assisted in the operation. The police searched her toolbox. They took her home and ransacked it. They confiscated her computer, printer, cartridge, copy paper, cell phone, 1,000 yuan in cash, and Falun Gong books.
The police interrogated Ms. Wu with torture at the Dadukou Police Station. They restrained her in a metal chair before hanging her up on a window frame. She was not allowed to sleep during the marathon interrogation. Three days later, she was taken to the Panzhihua City Detention Center.
Officer Duan took Ms. Wu to the Dadukou Police Station for another round of interrogation on April 18, 2007. She suddenly collapsed and her body twitched. Duan alleged that she was faking it and had people carry her back to the detention center. Days later on April 21, she was brought back to the police station and interrogated again. She was savagely beaten, forced to sit on a bench motionless and later hung up. She passed out due to pain during the torture session.
Ms. Wu was released on one-year bail on May 11, 2007, but the police lifted the bail months later on August 17. While she was on bail, her phone was tapped and the security guards at her workplace harassed her frequently. Her pay was also suspended for a period of time, resulting in a loss of over 20,000 yuan.
