(Minghui.org) US Senator John Cornyn of Texas signed on as a co-sponsor of the Falun Gong Protection Act on September 3, 2025. Senator Ted Cruz, who introduced the legislation, is working with six other senators who co-sponsored the bill to push for it to be passed.

Ten Texas State Senators Write to Ted Cruz in Support of the Falun Gong Protection Act
Ten Texas State Senators wrote letters to Senator Ted Cruz in late August 2025 in strong support of the Falun Gong Protection Act he proposed. The lawmakers include (from top to bottom, left to right): Sen. Robert L. Nichols, Sen. Angela Paxton, Texas Senate Majority Leader Sen. Tan Parker, Sen. Mayes Middleton, Texas House Majority Leader Rep. Tom Oliverson, Rep. Steve Toth, Rep. Terri Leo Wilson, Rep. West Virdell, Rep. Denise Villalobos, and Rep. Mike Olcott.
Ten prominent politicians including Sen. Angela Paxton and Texas House Majority Leader Rep. Tom Oliverson wrote letters to Sen. Ted Cruz expressing strong support for the Falun Gong Protection Act and to thank the Senator for his efforts on this important issue. They also urged the Senate to take swift action.

Sen. Angela Paxton wrote in her letter: “In 2021 during the 87th Texas State Legislature, I championed Senate Concurrent Resolution 3 which condemned the horrific practice of forced organ harvesting. Additionally, in 2023, during the 88th Legislature, the Texas Legislature took a principled stand against this atrocity through the passage of Senate Bill 1040, which prohibits Texas health plans from covering organ transplants sourced from countries engaged in forced organ harvesting. It is fitting that Texas’ leadership should now extend to the federal level through your efforts.”
Rep. Tom Oliverson wrote a letter to Ted Cruz in support of the Falun Gong Protection Act.
Rep. Tom Oliverson wrote in his letter: “For over two decades, people of faith have endured arbitrary detention, torture, and even forced organ harvesting simply because of their spiritual beliefs. History will remember how the world responded to such atrocities. The United States must not remain silent.
“Your bill provides a vital mechanism to hold perpetrators accountable and to protect innocent lives.” He urged the Senator to continue mobilizing Senate colleagues so this historic legislation can be enacted without delay.
To date, tens of thousands of Texas residents have signed the petition supporting the passing of the Falun Gong Protection Act.
Organ Harvesting by CCP Gains Attention
At present, 5 states in the U.S including Texas, Utah, Iowa, Arizona, and Tennessee have passed laws preventing the use of insurance monies to pay for medical bills involving transplants where organs are sourced from China and other countries suspected of organ harvesting.
On September 3, House Speaker Mike Johnson said in response to a question raised by a journalist following news of Russia President Putin and Chinese President Xi were heard discussing increasing longevity through organ transplants “… we’ve heard some horrific stories of these organ transplants and all of this in China, that they take it from unwilling donors...”
On the same day, Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), co-chair of the Congressional-Executive Commission on China called on the Senate to act fast and move the bill up.
The U.S House of Representatives unanimously passed the Falun Gong Protection Act on May 5 this year. Congressman Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, one of the proposers of the bill, published an opinion article in The Epoch Times on June 12, 2025. He condemned the CCP for persecuting Falun Gong and live organ harvesting and urged the Senate to pass the bill as soon as possible.
He emphasized that live organ harvesting by the CCP must stop, “China’s state-run organ transplant system operates in hospitals in a coordinated, bloody campaign of butchery of its own citizens, and it must stop, or the United States must cease engaging with China.”
He urged the passing of the “Falun Gong Protection Act” in the Senate, “I now call on the Senate to pass my bill for President Donald Trump’s signature and enactment – without delay. Those who suffer these indignities and horrors have no time to spare.”
