(Minghui.org) Mr. Xu Feilong, 32, from Puyang County, Henan Province, completed a two-year prison term on August 10, 2025, and recounted his torture in custody.
Mr. Xu was arrested in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, on August 11, 2023, for putting up flyers which had information about Falun Gong. Officers from the Dongshahu Police Department seized him from his rental apartment around 2:30 a.m. that day and took him to the Suzhou City Second Detention Center that evening. The police also raided his place.
Abused at Detention Center
The detention center guards did not allow Mr. Xu to do the Falun Gong exercises so he went on a hunger strike in protest. They beat him but he still refused to eat. They force-fed him water and began to force-feed him food twice a day from the fifth day on.
The guards tied Mr. Xu in a bed with his hands cuffed so tightly that he screamed in pain. The tight ropes also injured his arms.
A guard gave an inmate a hex screwdriver to pry open Mr. Xu’s mouth, causing a small piece of his upper right molar to fall out. He was already suffering toothache on the right side and he could only chew with the teeth on the left side of his mouth.
A detention center doctor named Yong Mao pinched Mr. Xu’s trachea during the force-feeding, causing him to almost suffocate. Yong also slapped his face repeatedly and smeared chili water on it.
The feeding tube was sometimes left in Mr. Xu for nearly an hour. His mouth was often full of blood. The twice-daily force-feeding involved giving him 500 to 600 milliliters of liquid food each time. One time he was also given IV injections for more than one hour.
When Mr. Xu’s parents visited him, the detention center ordered the couple to persuade their son to stop his hunger strike. The couple slept on the ground at the detention center’s entrance for over a month as they could not afford lodging.
Mr. Xu eventually agreed to eat again more than three months later, in November 2023.
Due to the repeated torture, Mr. Xu lost his ability to walk around October 2023. He still hadn’t recovered by the time he completed his prison term in August 2025.
Continued Abuse in Prison
Mr. Xu was transferred to the Wuxi Prison in late January 2024. He went on a hunger strike again when the prison guards did not allow him to do the Falun Gong exercises. The guards instructed two drug dealers, one named Wan Tong (who was serving a death sentence with probation) and Zhao Lei (who weighed over 300 pounds) to beat him.
Wan and Zhao pressed on and stabbed Mr. Xu’s acupressure point hard as those are sensitive parts and the pain is intense. They once used a string of beads to hit him on the temples. They struck him with so much force that the beads broke.
Wan was moved in March 2024 and the guards arranged a murderer named Xu Qinchun (no relation to Mr. Xu) to take his place. Inmate Xu hit Mr. Xu on the face hard and scratched his inner thighs so badly that the skin turned yellow and hurt at the slightest touch. The guards had several newly admitted inmates watch him. As soon as he moved slightly, they pressed him down.
Once the guards ordered Mr. Xu to give his biometrics information. He refused to comply and they hit him on the face and pinched his stomach.
Mr. Xu went on a hunger strike again on April 22, 2024. The prison guards summoned his parents in early May 2024 to persuade him to eat.
Zhao was moved away and Wan was moved back to take his place to continue torturing Mr. Xu. He refused to write statements to renounce Falun Gong and was beaten by Wan and other inmates.
Because Mr. Xu was unable to walk, he struggled to use the restroom. One day during restroom breaks, guard Zhu Shilong instructed an inmate to suddenly yank Mr. Xu’s arms and drag him forward. He felt excruciating pain in his arms and screamed. He went on a hunger strike to protest the abuse and was taken to the prison hospital for force-feeding once a day. Each time he was given 1,300 milliliters of liquid food. The repeated force-feeding made him extremely weak. They dragged him to the hospital every day and he almost fainted several times.
The guards also deprived Mr. Xu of sleep. They woke him up at 6 a.m. and restrained him on a tiger bench. He was not removed from the bench until midnight. The next day he was woken up at midnight and put on the bench until 2 a.m. The third day he sat on the bench from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fourth day he was forced to stay awake from 4 a.m. to 9:20 p.m. The fifth day he was on the tiger bench from 6 to 9:20 p.m. The inmates were allowed to take naps each day, but he could not.
Whenever Mr. Xu dozed off, inmate Lu Zhaowen banged a metal food bowl near his ears. The sound was so loud that he lost hearing momentarily. He also had a cyst in his left ear. Lu also pinched his nipples and stabbed him on his temples and ribs. At one point, the guards force-fed him 1,600-1,800 milliliters of water as punishment. Later they force-fed him 1,300 milliliters of water twice a day.
On the way to the prison hospital for force-feeding, Mr. Xu shouted “Falun Dafa is good!” and Lu put a black hood over his head. Lu used the drawstring on the hood to cover his mouth, so he could only breathe through his nose.
One day in 2025, Lu covered Mr. Xu’s head with a hood so tightly that he felt like he was suffocating, and he had no sensation in his mouth and tongue. He was briefly in a semi-conscious state.
Whenever a new inmate was brought in, Mr. Xu told them about the goodness of Falun Gong. Lu then stuffed his mouth with towels used to clean toilet bowls or the flood. Lu also stabbed him on the throat, causing persisting pain. During the winter, Lu opened the window to freeze him.
Despite Mr. Xu’s leg issue, the guards still made him do night duty when they were not subjecting him to sleep deprivation.
Mr. Xu remained firm in his faith and refused to write statements to renounce Falun Gong. The guards eventually had 5-6 inmates grab his hand to press his fingerprints on the statements they already prepared. He was released on August 10, 2025.
