(Minghui.org) DP Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, was packed on September 27, 2026, for the annual Pink Day event to support breast cancer patients and their families. Proteas, South Africa’s national cricket team, wore pink uniforms to highlight breast cancer awareness.
South African Falun Dafa practitioners also attended the game to support the cause. To show their solidarity, they brought along pink lotus flower keepsakes with Falun Dafa’s principle of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance printed on them to hand out to the spectators.
For those who were interested in learning more, the practitioners also shared information about their spiritual practice. Many in the audience were there to support a humanitarian cause and found that Falun Dafa resonated with their values.

The Match and the Cause
Thousands of fans crowded the stadium for the match against the Australian national team, also dressed in pink for breast cancer awareness. Proceeds from the match went to support the Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital Breast Care Clinic, which treats breast cancer patients and also trains medical staff to treat breast cancer.
Many of the spectators shared that this was a personal cause for them. Caren, an architect, said that she was there in honor of her late mother who died from breast cancer. “It was terrible, One day she was fine, four months later she passed away,” she said. “I can tell you that everyone here either knows someone or is connected to someone who has breast cancer or has passed away from it.”
Leneshia, an architectural technician, said that she has a breast cancer survivor in her family. “It’s good to be part of this [Pink Day] initiative. It’s so much more than just the sport; that’s what makes it so great,” she said.

Leneshia was interested in Falun Dafa because it promotes compassion. She noted that her family member was able to overcome cancer because of her family’s compassion and support.
“It's so important to be a compassionate person, a kind person,” she said. “We should always be mindful that there is so much more to life than our own notions. Be compassionate and spread love and care wherever you can.”
She spoke with practitioners at length and was happy to take home a small lotus flower keepsake as a reminder of these positive values.

Colin, another cricket fan at the match, said that he’d lost several people in his life due to cancer. He’d tried the Falun Dafa exercises before and believes that the principles and meditation aspect of Falun Dafa would be beneficial for overcoming grief while maintaining empathy. “The peacefulness and a few minutes of meditation, that being alone, lifts us up and helps take away the sadness and the hardship,” he said.
Following Falun Dafa’s Values Would Make for a Safer World
Other fans at the stadium said Falun Dafa’s values were important and that the world would be better if more people were focused on improving their own character.
This was the second year Letisha came with her husband and daughter to Pink Day, and she was very pleased to see more people come to support this humanitarian cause. She said that society would greatly benefit from Falun Dafa’s values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. “South Africa would be a much, much better place if more people knew about Falun Dafa. We all want to be safe, and crime would go down considerably,” she said.
Caren thanked the practitioners who told her about Falun Dafa and said that she thought it could help people resolve conflicts. “It can help people better understand each other. People are more willing to open up, and that creates a much better world for everyone!” she said.
She was very enthusiastic about learning more about Falun Dafa and said she would hang the pink lotus flower over her desk.
Clovi came to the match after a friend invited him. He said it was crucial to apply Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance to difficult situations in one’s life. “These are very important values. A lot of things can happen, but they can show us how to react and stay calm in tense situations,” he said.
