(Minghui.org) Minghui.org has extensively reported on the abuse of Falun Gong practitioners who are jailed at the Gongzhuling Prison in Jilin Province. The following is a personal account of a Falun Gong practitioner who was once incarcerated there.
When I was admitted, I was ordered to write statements to renounce Falun Gong. When I refused I was forced to sit on a small stool from just past 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. A piece of paper or a book was placed between my legs. I had to sit straight and I was not allowed to turn my head, close my eyes, or talk. The inmates who monitored me, which the prison called firefighters, limited my water and food intake. I had to ask them for permission when I had to use the restroom.
After 9 p.m., I was put on night duty, which required me to walk around for three and a half hours to check on the inmates. I wasn’t allowed to go to bed until 12:30 a.m.
I remained firm my faith, and the guards had inmates wake me up once every hour at night. I became disoriented at one point. Nonetheless, I refused to give up my spiritual belief. The guards put me in the strict management team, where I was subjected to the long-term sitting torture (from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m.) again. This time I was subjected to a different torture—I was made to sit on a less than two-inch-wide wood plank. The slightest movement resulted in punishment. When I was finally allowed to go to bed, the inmates woke me up again once every hour.
The cell had no heat, and the guards forced me to sleep on the floor with no bedding. I was given only a half bowl of very thin cornmeal with two pickled radishes for every meal.
I was held in the strict management team for three months. I was reduced to just skin and bones, and could barely walk on my own. My face was pale.
Those who signed statements to renounce Falun Gong were still forced to study materials smearing Falun Gong every day and write thought reports to denounce Falun Gong and its founder. If they said no, they’d be subjected to the various forms of torture I was subjected to.
Captains Li Zhuxuan and Zhao Xu, as well as team lead Li Min, were the chief perpetrators when I was jailed. They often defamed Falun Gong and its founder, and instigated inmates to monitor and abuse practitioners who remain steadfast in their faith.
