(Minghui.org) Every weekend, regardless of the winter cold or the scorching summer sun, practitioners set up an information booth in a commercial district in The Hague’s city center to raise awareness about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Dafa in China.
Practitioners regularly hold events at Grote Markststraat, a commercial street in the center of The Hague, to raise awareness about the persecution of Falun Dafa in China.
Practitioners in the Netherlands hold regular events on Grote Markststraat, a commercial street in the center of The Hague. They demonstrate the five exercises, hand out flyers, and talk to people. Business people, scholars, international students, human rights workers, and international tourists stop to learn about Falun Dafa and the CCP’s ongoing persecution. Many who hear about the persecution for the first time are stunned. Others who already know about the situation express their support and admiration for the practitioners.
People read the informational display boards.
Two professors from Leiden University in the Netherlands came to the booth and asked whether practitioners had any materials written in Chinese. They explained that they taught biology and interacted with students and visiting scholars from China. They had found that these scholars were unaware of the human rights abuses happening in China. They wanted to give the information to their Chinese colleagues to help them obtain the true facts, so they can break away from the CCP’s indoctrination.
An Amnesty International staff member signed the petition that calls for a stop to the CCP’s state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting. She left her email address and told the practitioners that she was very willing to help them stop the persecution, and that they could contact her any time if they needed help.
Sandro from Italy said he worked in The Hague. He spoke for a long time with practitioners. About the CCP’s atrocities of forced organ harvesting, he said, “Organ donation should be a choice. I support organ donation and I want to help others after I die. But one needs to sign a voluntary donation form, rather than being killed by certain groups or individuals for profit. That is terrible!
“Communist China is a country that is completely different from the free world in the West. They try to imitate Western European countries and create a similar image, but there is no freedom of speech in China, which is really bad.
“I know some of the CCP’s practices frighten many Chinese. People are being secretly monitored and investigated. They [the CCP] know your moves and thoughts. This fear makes Chinese people afraid of thinking differently. There is no freedom of speech, never. Our government, because of economic agreements with China, prefers to remain silent, pretending nothing bad is happening in China, doing nothing, and saying nothing. This is really sad.”
Speaking of Falun Dafa’s values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, Sandro said they are precious. In particular, he talked about his understanding of tolerance, “Tolerance is crucial. If we disagree on a point a view, we can discuss it. But we cannot force people to accept a certain viewpoint, nor can we stop them from continuing the discussion. Doing that is immoral. We strive to make the world more open, and that’s a really good word because it explains what we should do.”
People sign the petition to support practitioners’ efforts to end the persecution.
