(Minghui.org) A woman in Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province, is facing prosecution in the nearby Meihekou City, Jilin Province, because she practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since July 1999.

Ms. Xin Kui, 50, went to Shancheng Town in Meihekou City on November 22, 2025, to distribute informational materials about Falun Gong. She was arrested by officers from the Shancheng Town Police Station and held at the Meihekou City Detention Center.

Ms. Xin’s two lawyers went to the Meihekou City Police Department on November 27 and 28, 2025, but they were not allowed to visit her. They then went to the detention center, the Meihekou City Procuratorate, and the appeals office, but their visitation requests were denied again.

The lawyers and Ms. Xin’s family returned to the procuratorate on December 22, 2025, but the receptionist refused to accept their application to represent her. They then went to the detention center and had a guard pass their letter to Ms. Xin. Ms. Xin was indicted a few days later.

On February 6, 2026, Ms. Xin’s family learned from the lawyers that her case was now with the Meihekou City Court. Her daughter called judge Wang Xue on March 6, 2026, asking about her mother’s case. Wang hung up hastily.

Past Persecution

Ms. Xin took up Falun Gong in 1996, when she was struggling with severe postpartum joint pain. She soon recovered and has enjoyed good health ever since.

On December 15, 1999, five months after the persecution started, Ms. Xin set out for Beijing to appeal for the right to practice her faith. She was arrested while on the way there, at the train station in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. Officers Wang Jixian and Wang Weixian of the Caoshi Town Police Station in Qingyuan escorted her to the Qingyuan County Police Department. They detained her for 15 days and charged her with “disrupting social order.” The Qingyuan County 610 Office and the Caoshi Police Station extorted over 7,000 yuan from her. After she was released, the police frequently harassed her and ordered her to renounce Falun Gong.

Ms. Xin talked to a villager about the benefits of Falun Gong in January 2002, but was reported by village secretary Pan Honglu. Officer Li Xianghui took her to the Caoshi Police Station. They extorted 500 yuan from her and then released her.
