(Minghui.org) Many cultures believe that good deeds are rewarded and people should avoid doing bad things. I’d like to share a few examples.
Lai Junchen was an official in the Tang Dynasty when Wu Zetian was empress. He handled many legal cases that resulted in the implication and destruction of more than a thousand families. His interrogation methods were unspeakably cruel. They included pouring vinegar into the person’s nose, roasting people inside large earthenware jars, starving prisoners, forcing them to sleep in human waste, and subjecting them to excruciating torture. Lai Junchen also ordered guards to hack general Zhang Qianxu to death, and to cut out General Fan Yunxian’s tongue.
Officials and ordinary citizens were terrified, and no one spoke casually. He and his followers compiled a book that codified the art of denunciation and false accusation.
Lai was eventually denounced and brought to justice. He was sentenced to public execution in the marketplace. He was so universally detested that after he was executed, “The crowds vied to hack pieces from his flesh, and within moments, nothing remained,” according to Extensive Records of the Taiping Era.
The First Domestic Security Officer
Such stories have continued ever since. Dang Dianjun was a former Domestic Security Bureau chief in Hanshan District of Handan City, Hebei Province. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to suppress Falun Gong, Dang followed the regime’s directives and hired additional temporary workers to mistreat practitioners. As a result, many practitioners were arrested and their homes were ransacked. Practitioners were interrogated, beaten, electrocuted, and sent to labor camps. Dang also extorted money from the practitioners’ families, sometimes 20,000 to 30,000 yuan, sometimes 4,000 to 5,000 yuan, and no receipts were issued.
When practitioners suggested that Dang not harm people who hadn’t violated any laws, he boasted, “I am a CCP member and an atheist. I’m not afraid of retribution.” Soon afterward, he was diagnosed with rectal cancer. Dang was hospitalized in February 2004 and died in agony.
The Second Domestic Security Officer
Dang’s successor was Lu Yinghai, who became the Domestic Security chief in 2003. When they they saw that Lu was carrying out the CCP’s policy to persecute Falun Gong, the practitioners urged him to learn lessons from what happened to his predecessor, Dang. Lu refused to listen and threatened them, “I will arrest every single Falun Gong practitioner…” He carried out his threat and numerous practitioners suffered miserably due to Lu’s policies.
16-year-old Ms. Du Likun was arrested in late 2003 and held at the First Handan Detention Center, where she was tortured by being handcuffed behind her back and force-fed. As a result, Du vomited blood.
Ms. Du’s mother, Ms. Yang Fenglian, was an associate professor at Hebei University of Architecture and Technology. Because she practices Falun Dafa, she has been repeatedly abducted, detained, and tortured. Because of the persecution the daughter was expelled from school, and her mother was illegally sentenced to forced labor and barred from work for four years. This caused the family heavy financial losses of more than 80,000 yuan.
Lu ordered Mr. Ji Ruiling and Ms. Ji Junyun, two siblings in Handan District, to be arrested in 2009. Ji Ruiling was sentenced to three years in prison; his sister Ji Junyun, was sentenced to three years and two months. The police extorted more than 100,000 yuan from their family.
Ms. Liu Jinling, another practitioner, was also arrested and detained six times in both detention centers and brainwashing centers. The police also repeatedly extorted money from him.
Ms. Jiao Shuzhenwas was arrested and secretly sentenced to four years in prison in 2008. Her nearly 70-year-old husband, who had cancer and was barely able to walk, was left alone at home and struggled to survive.
After Mr. Wang Zhiwu was arrested in 2005, he was detained and tortured at the Handan Forced Labor Camp. Guards deprived him of sleep for eight days and nights. Because Mr. Wang refused to renounce Falun Gong, the guards insulted and humiliated him. They forced him to smoke through his nose, drew on his face with ink, and forced him to wear a plastic basin on his head. They placed sticks under his armpits, and wrapped him in rags and paraded him around the labor camp. A guard named Wang Zhimin devised an even more bizarre method of torture, plucking out Wang Zhiwu’s eyebrows.
Ms. Zhang Fengqin was another Falun Gong practitioner from Handan City. In July 2008, a group of police officers from Congtai West Police Station broke into her rented house and abducted her. She was illegally sentenced to three years in prison.
When Mr. Han Meng told other people about Falun Gong and the persecution, he was arrested and sent to the Handan First Detention Center. Another time he was sent to a labor camp.
Lu and other officers also arrested Mr. Qin Jianxue in February 2012, ransacked his home, and sent him to the Handan First Detention Center, then sent him to a labor camp. This was the third time Mr. Qin was sent to a labor camp because he practiced Falun Gong.
These are just a few examples and from a long list. Whenever practitioners told Du not to persecute Falun Gong, he refused to listen.
One day in late April 2025, Lu went to his friend’s place for tea. His friend wasn’t there, so he walked around the courtyard and fell. He asked the security guard to call his brother. The guard did so, and he also called 120 (emergency services). By the time the ambulance arrived, Lu was already dead. He was 62 years old.
Many people believed Lu’s sudden death was related to his bad deeds. His wrongdoings also affected his wife, who has been partially paralyzed for many years and is unable to take care of herself.
The persecution of Falun Gong has gone on for 27 years. We sincerely hope people learn the facts, not listen to the CCP’s hate propaganda, and stop participating in the persecution.
