(Minghui.org) Practitioners held an event in Réunion on March 28, 2026, at Saint-Paul Pier, to introduce Falun Dafa to local residents and tourists and expose the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) brutal persecution that has gone on for 27 years.
Located in the Indian Ocean within the African region, Réunion Island is an overseas department and region of France. As one of the outermost regions of the European Union and part of the Eurozone, it attracts many tourists and is known for its active volcano.
Practitioners demonstrated the five Falun Dafa exercises and displayed information about the practice and the persecution. Passersby read the information, and talked with practitioners. Some signed the petitions to help end the CCP’s human rights violations while others took flyers and said they wished to learn more. Many people said the CCP’s cruelty not only harms Chinese people, but also threatens the world.
Practitioners held an event on March 28 in Réunion, France to introduce Falun Dafa.
One man said he hadn’t heard about Falun Dafa or the suppression. A practitioner described how he had been mistreated in China for practicing Falun Dafa.
“There were four detainees in the prison cell and I was the only Falun Dafa practitioner. Those three inmates were assigned to watch me and stop me from doing the Falun Dafa exercises or reading Falun Dafa books,” recalled the practitioner.
The practitioner experienced both physical torture and mental abuse in both the detention center and the prison. “Guards shocked me with electric batons, deprived me of sleep, hung me up on the door, and restricted my access to the toilet,” he continued. “They also humiliated me by pouring urine or feces on me.”
Shocked by the human rights abuses, the man asked for more information. He offered to donate money, but the practitioner said it was not necessary. The man thanked practitioners for holding the event and took some materials so that he could place them at his clinic for people to read.

Véronique Hoarau was about to visit a nearby market but stopped at the practitioners’ booth and talked with them for a long time. She not only signed a petition, but said she also planned to attend a practice site near her daughter’s home and learn the exercises.
One couple read the posters and talked with the practitioners. Surprised by the harsh persecution, they said these human rights violations could threaten the world as the CCP expands its influence globally. They signed petitions that call to end the suppression including the forced organ harvesting from Falun Dafa practitioners.
After taking photos and videos of practitioners doing the exercises, as well as photos of the posters, some people said they would post the information online so that more people can learn about the tragedies the CCP has caused during the 27-year-long persecution.
