(Minghui.org) I was shocked when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Dafa on July 20, 1999, wondering whether this was another political movement. At my age, I had experienced all of the CCP’s movements and witnessed firsthand the cruelty of the Party’s persecution. I didn’t go along with any of the movements. As the television kept broadcasting programs slandering Falun Dafa, I thought, “You say that Falun Dafa is not good, so I’ll borrow a copy of Zhuan Falun and read it myself.” After reading the book, I found that it teaches people to be good and encourages compassion. What the book teaches is not like what the CCP said in their propaganda. So I decided not to go with the propaganda and chose to follow Falun Dafa.
I did not start cultivation right away. However, my thought of ‘following Falun Dafa’ planted the seed. I started cultivating Dafa in 2011.
Falun Dafa was banned in China, and there were no group practice sites in public. Fellow practitioners gave me the videotapes that teach the exercises and I followed them to learn the movements. I also got Dafa books, which I read alone.
I have had multiple illnesses since childhood. I suffered from blood pressure problems, high cholesterol, heart disease, constipation, and rectal bleeding. I also had one strange problem—I would collapse whenever my stomach hurt. Sometimes, while I was giving a lecture, I would suddenly collapse on the ground. It was unpredictable and dangerous. I went to many hospitals for treatment, but they couldn’t find anything wrong. I ignored all the symptoms after I started cultivating Falun Dafa, and I didn’t see doctors or take medicine. I firmly believed that I was going through body purification. All my illnesses soon disappeared miraculously. It was really incredible.
Later, I started going to the riverbank every day with other practitioners to distribute truth-clarification materials. Once, I was so focused on handing out the materials that I didn’t notice I was at the police station entrance. A person came out and said, “What are you doing? Let me see your bag.” He didn’t find anything in there. He said, “Don’t do this kind of thing.”
A few years ago, several of us elderly practitioners were exchanging materials when a police officer appeared. He grabbed us, took us to his vehicle, and drove us to the police station. When we arrived, several other practitioners were there. A police chief said to us, “How dare you distribute materials openly on the street.”
We didn’t know that we should pay attention to our safety, and the evil took advantage of our omissions and seized us. The police asked all sorts of questions and took our pictures. When they tried to take my fingerprints, the device didn’t work, and they eventually gave up. A police officer showed me some slanderous propaganda about Dafa on his cell phone. I told him that it was all lies. I wasn’t afraid and remained very calm, as I didn’t do anything wrong. At the end of the day, the police called my child to take me home.
After this incident, some practitioners were arrested and taken to brainwashing centers. I also lost contact with other practitioners. One person often came to me for truth-clarifying materials, and he continued to come after the incident. He often asked for DVDs, and was very happy every time he got new ones. He told me that he especially enjoyed watching programs on NTDTV. Sometimes, when practitioners in other places had difficulties, I couldn’t get new DVDs. This person put his hands in front of his chest and prayed to Master, “Master Li, I need to keep watching the DVDs. This is my only source for getting the DVDs. I am not just watching them myself, I also share them with others.” When he told me he prayed to Master, I was very moved. Even an everyday person knows to ask Master for help at crucial moments.
I told the practitioner who delivered the DVDs about this person. He was very happy to hear it, and said, “Ordinary people have started believing in Master.” He continued, “In July and August, some practitioners were harassed or arrested, and the distribution of truth-clarifying materials was temporarily suspended. You are the only one who wouldn’t stop. No matter how difficult it is, we will keep making the DVDs for you.” Master strengthened us, and we continued distributing the DVDs. When the practitioner delivering the DVDs had other commitments, he arranged for another practitioner to deliver them. I believed all of these were Master’s arrangements. Thank you, Master!
A few months ago, for some reason, a thought crossed my mind, “I’m 88 years old. I should go to a nursing home, so that someone could take care of me in case anything happened. My child has a family of three with their own difficulties, and I don’t want to bother them.” Then I thought, “If I go to a nursing home, I won’t be able to do anything. I won’t be able to study the Fa, do the exercises, read Minghui Weekly, or help distribute DVDs. No, I shouldn’t go.” I realized that I had things to do and a mission to fulfill, so I dismissed the thought.
A week later, the wind blew my bathroom window shut. I wanted to open it, but couldn’t reach it because the bathtub was right underneath the window. I grabbed a stool, placed it next to the bathtub, stepped on the stool, and tried to reach to the window. Suddenly, I lost balance, fell backward, and crashed to the ground. I recited, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” and slowly got up. I wasn’t injured, except for a slight pain in my toes. Master protected me!
Master said,
“Do you realize that if I didn’t protect you, it wouldn’t have been an injury to your body but most likely the loss of your life!” (Teachings at the Conference in Australia)
For an everyday person at age 88, this fall could have resulted in broken bons, or worse. If something happened to me, my children would be powerless even if they were by my side. Thinking of the incident afterward sent chills down my spine. I thanked Master for saving me and believe that he is right beside me. A Falun Dafa practitioner should firmly believe in Master, rely on Master, and follow his teachings.
